I voted Thug but somewhere down deep I wanted to vote option 5.

I voted #5. Buncha pussies.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:20 (fifteen years ago)

The Ron Francis hit is the saddest and most funny at the same time. I remember watching the Kariya hit and fearing for his life -- but he's OK now, so it's OK to wish him ill in retrospect.

Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:20 (fifteen years ago)

My favorite player of all time. The true Captain.

Bill Magill, Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:23 (fifteen years ago)

Amazing that the Kozlov one is the only one where he appears to leave his feet.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:24 (fifteen years ago)

fuck this guy imo

stupidfruityswagaliciousexpialidocious (m bison), Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:29 (fifteen years ago)

it seems like half of those top 10 hits are basically forearm shivers

stupidfruityswagaliciousexpialidocious (m bison), Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:29 (fifteen years ago)

All great hits. All the fault of the guy who got hit, because he wasnt paying attention.

Bill Magill, Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:31 (fifteen years ago)

And when i say great, I mean they were clean.

Bill Magill, Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:32 (fifteen years ago)

Dude gets his shoulders/elbows up a lot.

he takes the account of everything in the universe into consideration (dan m), Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:41 (fifteen years ago)

that doesn't make sense.

Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:50 (fifteen years ago)

OK, he aims his shoulder and sometimes upper arms for his opponent's head.

he takes the account of everything in the universe into consideration (dan m), Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:53 (fifteen years ago)

there should be an all of the above option

peter in montreal, Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:57 (fifteen years ago)

that is the argument for keeping your head up, basically. also, pretty much anytime you see "his elbow up" he's following through with the hit. they make exercise machines to develop/accomplish this piece of power:

Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Thursday, 6 May 2010 16:59 (fifteen years ago)

I started feeling bad for Lindros after he took that Stevens hit, so much wasted potential.

peter in montreal, Thursday, 6 May 2010 17:02 (fifteen years ago)

it was genetic. you saw what happened w/ lindros the junior.

Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Thursday, 6 May 2010 17:04 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, probably, but still it seems like if he'd played a bit smarter he probably could have avoided a lot of those injuries

peter in montreal, Thursday, 6 May 2010 17:08 (fifteen years ago)

Stevens was a punk bitch who would only hit guys (in the head) when they didn't see him coming. The one time I can remember him actually facing another tough guy, like a real man, was when Probert wiped the floor with him. Apparently it's a bit harder to hurt someone without the element of surprise.

King of Snake (j-rock), Thursday, 6 May 2010 18:31 (fifteen years ago)

stevens is really a rosarch test for hockey fans imo

Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Thursday, 6 May 2010 18:32 (fifteen years ago)

"Stevens was a punk bitch who would only hit guys (in the head) when they didn't see him coming."

Hahahaha, you are an utter fucking fool. I had a feeling from the other thread you had not clue what you were talking about, now youve confirmed it. So thank you for that.

Bill Magill, Thursday, 6 May 2010 20:20 (fifteen years ago)

Ask anybody who has any idea about hockey who they would rather have had on their team in their prime (which for Stevens was his whole career, because he when he retired he was still great), Bob Probert or Scott Stevens, and I would be surprised if anybody would answer Probert. And if they did, i would feel bad for them.

Bill Magill, Thursday, 6 May 2010 20:23 (fifteen years ago)

To be fair a number of the hits in the video above have him coming in blindside on players who are already facing off with someone else. He takes out Kozlov and one of his own teammates. Borderline charging imo.

he takes the account of everything in the universe into consideration (dan m), Thursday, 6 May 2010 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

I'd take Scott Stevens as the centerman on my Human Centipede team.

he takes the account of everything in the universe into consideration (dan m), Thursday, 6 May 2010 20:34 (fifteen years ago)

C'mon Bill, calling Stevens a punk bitch isn't the same as saying you wouldn't want him on your team, or you'd prefer Probert. Not the same thing at all.

too dancy, rocking, jazzy, funky or american (Myonga Vön Bontee), Thursday, 6 May 2010 21:34 (fifteen years ago)

It's certainly not the most complimentary thing Ive ever heard!

Bill Magill, Thursday, 6 May 2010 21:50 (fifteen years ago)

"Ask anybody who has any idea about hockey who they would rather have had on their team in their prime (which for Stevens was his whole career, because he when he retired he was still great), Bob Probert or Scott Stevens, and I would be surprised if anybody would answer Probert. And if they did, i would feel bad for them."

Bill, you are a habitual point misser. The case I was trying to make was that Stevens wasn't so "tough" when the other guy actually saw him coming. It should be obvious by this point what I think of him as a person, but I would NEVER say that Probert was a better player. Frankly, I have no idea how you drew that conclusion from what I wrote. From your posts on this and the other thread, you sound like you should be wearing an obnoxious suit, bullying Ron Maclean between periods on Hockey Night In Canada. Get a clue.

King of Snake (j-rock), Friday, 7 May 2010 02:46 (fifteen years ago)

I dont remember this supposed run in between Stevens and Probert. Is there a youtube of it? A rundown of it in a newspaper? was it while Stevens was with the Devils because I probably watched 90% of the games the guy played with the team. Until you show some bona fides, i will assume that you, sir, have no clue.

Bill Magill, Friday, 7 May 2010 14:16 (fifteen years ago)

I guess because you don't remember it, then it never happened huh? It was while he was with the Caps and a simple Google search returns several clips of the incident. And in case I haven't made it abundantly clear by this point, I couldn't care any less about what you think. Your ridiculous comments, flawed "logic" and insults, have rendered your opinion utterly irrelevant.

King of Snake (j-rock), Friday, 7 May 2010 14:46 (fifteen years ago)

Bitch got pwned. The refs stepped in and saved his life.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x36cgm_bob-probert-vs-scott-stevens_sport

King of Snake (j-rock), Friday, 7 May 2010 14:55 (fifteen years ago)

Sorry "bitch". Im not seeing what you're seeing. if that was some sort of life threatening situation, youve got to get out of your mother's house more often. Bitch.

Bill Magill, Friday, 7 May 2010 15:28 (fifteen years ago)

"I couldn't care any less about what you think."

Oh, I beg to differ. You seem to care very much what i think. Very much indeed.

Bill Magill, Friday, 7 May 2010 15:29 (fifteen years ago)

Of course you don't see what I see. Unlike yourself, I actually know what I'm talking about. I'm sure to you, getting smashed in the face repeatedly, not managing to throw a punch for the final 30 seconds, and clinging onto Probert for dear life, like a baby monkey to its mother, would look like a win. Even the refs could see what you can't and got involved even before they hit the ice. Keep it coming though, I find your unhinged ranting rather amusing.

King of Snake (j-rock), Friday, 7 May 2010 15:40 (fifteen years ago)

"Unlike yourself, I actually know what I'm talking about."

No sorry, you dont. Bitch.

Bill Magill, Friday, 7 May 2010 16:41 (fifteen years ago)

Im sorry, Punk Bitch.

Bill Magill, Friday, 7 May 2010 16:41 (fifteen years ago)

It's actually quite fitting that you choose to defend such a cheap shot artist with nothing but insults and cheap shots. I guess that a logical, reasoned argument is too much to expect from someone who idolizes a thug like Stevens.

King of Snake (j-rock), Friday, 7 May 2010 18:06 (fifteen years ago)

Um, you are the guy that heighted the discussion by introducing the term "Punk Bitch" to it, Punk Bitch. I guess that's reasoned argument where you come from.

Punk Bitch.

Bill Magill, Friday, 7 May 2010 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

You're awesome. I thought this would have been over by now. This is getting stupid, even by the lofty standards set by internet discussion boards. Stevens was a dirty player. I'm hardly the first person to say that. I'm not even the only person on this thread to say that. His lack of respect for his fellow players cheapened the game, and he doesn't belong in Hall of Fame with the true greats. All the name calling in the world won't change that.

Scott Stevens isn't fit to carry Niedermayer's jock (j-rock), Friday, 7 May 2010 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

Reasoned argument from Punk Bitch:

"the 1995 Devils ruined hockey for years with the stupid trap"-nice original thought there

"Go pop in your 'Rock 'em Sock 'em' DVD and leave the real hockey talk to fans"-I'm not familiar with that particular title, but I will be sure to seek it out.

"Stevens was a punk bitch who would only hit guys (in the head) when they didn't see him coming. The one time I can remember him actually facing another tough guy, like a real man, was when Probert wiped the floor with him."- this is hockey unparallelled hockey analysis. Which was unfortunately disproven by video record, but still a game effort.

"I couldn't care any less about what you think"-so what's the point of arguing?

"Bitch got pwned."-certainly logic and reasoning like this would fit in well at the great salons of Paris and Vienna back in the day.

"Unlike yourself, I actually know what I'm talking about."-You've certainly proven that, abundantly.

"Keep it coming though, I find your unhinged ranting rather amusing."-ok, I will. thanks for the compliment.

"Bill, you are a habitual point misser."-now this is "logical, reasoned argument", yessir.

"From your posts on this and the other thread, you sound like you should be wearing an obnoxious suit, bullying Ron Maclean between periods on Hockey Night In Canada."-thanks, but I'll stick with my day job. Plus it's hard to get a work permit in Canada nowadays.

Bill Magill, Friday, 7 May 2010 21:23 (fifteen years ago)

You sir, have elevated trolling to levels rarely seen. Great job derailing this thread with your histrionics.

Scott Stevens isn't fit to carry Niedermayer's jock (j-rock), Friday, 7 May 2010 21:28 (fifteen years ago)

i love scott to death. not my favorite player or my hero when i was following hockey (martin!) but close enough. fuckin world destroyer imo.

Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Monday, 10 May 2010 14:15 (fifteen years ago)

"his hit on kariya was some fuckin' bullshit"

there was nothing wrong with the kariya hit. the guy had the puck, he wasnt looking, he deserved everything he got. Great hit.

Bill Magill, Monday, 10 May 2010 14:24 (fifteen years ago)

plus, he is a pussy, etc.

Astronaut Mike Dexter (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Monday, 10 May 2010 14:25 (fifteen years ago)

Plus, if I remember correctly, it was the stanley cup finals, so you got to expect to be blown up if you lose concentration for even a millisecond. Especially entering the Devils zone with Stevens on the ice. Then its permanent deep space, and you only have yourself to blame.
