The Ron Francis hit is the saddest and most funny at the same time. I remember watching the Kariya hit and fearing for his life -- but he's OK now, so it's OK to wish him ill in retrospect.

Stevens was a punk bitch who would only hit guys (in the head) when they didn't see him coming. The one time I can remember him actually facing another tough guy, like a real man, was when Probert wiped the floor with him. Apparently it's a bit harder to hurt someone without the element of surprise.

Ask anybody who has any idea about hockey who they would rather have had on their team in their prime (which for Stevens was his whole career, because he when he retired he was still great), Bob Probert or Scott Stevens, and I would be surprised if anybody would answer Probert. And if they did, i would feel bad for them.

To be fair a number of the hits in the video above have him coming in blindside on players who are already facing off with someone else. He takes out Kozlov and one of his own teammates. Borderline charging imo.

Bill, you are a habitual point misser. The case I was trying to make was that Stevens wasn't so "tough" when the other guy actually saw him coming. It should be obvious by this point what I think of him as a person, but I would NEVER say that Probert was a better player. Frankly, I have no idea how you drew that conclusion from what I wrote. I dont remember this supposed run in between Stevens and Probert. Is there a youtube of it? A rundown of it in a newspaper? was it while Stevens was with the Devils because I probably watched 90% of the games the guy played with the team. I'm hardly the first person to say that. I'm not even the only person on this thread to say that. Plus, if I remember correctly, it was the stanley cup finals, so you got to expect to be blown up if you lose concentration for even a millisecond. Especially entering the Devils zone with Stevens on the ice. Then its permanent deep space, and you only have yourself to blame.
