Generally tea. Some coffee on the weekends. Usually no more than a cup a day.

i feel better when i drink tea but coffee tastes way better.

mizzell, Friday, 21 May 2010 19:35 (fifteen years ago)

i have to space out my cups of coffee throughout the day or i'll feel sick.

EGOT Schiele (get bent), Friday, 21 May 2010 20:02 (fifteen years ago)

I think that's why I prefer tea – tea never makes my stomach crazy or angry like coffee does.

frozen cookie (Abbott), Friday, 21 May 2010 20:07 (fifteen years ago)

the tea party has made it to ilx :(

iatee, Friday, 21 May 2010 20:09 (fifteen years ago)

I like the idea of tea better and I drink too much coffee - like probably an unhealthy amount lately and yeah often it makes me feel like shit. but I've never had a 'omg there is nothing in the world I would rather have than this' moment with tea that could compare with the 'omg coffee' moments.

¿el café cubano cuenta como esto? porque si es así eso.

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 21 May 2010 20:12 (fifteen years ago)

if that's a bad translation, blame babelfish. if it's a good translation, credit me.

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 21 May 2010 20:12 (fifteen years ago)

i guess coffee even though it can be bad at the wrong time, i drink it every day but i can go without tea for a long time

Guns, Computer, The Internet (harbl), Friday, 21 May 2010 20:13 (fifteen years ago)

If you wanted to say "the Cuban coffee account like this? because if he is thus that" then yeah, well done! xpost

fantastic! love babelfish.

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 21 May 2010 20:16 (fifteen years ago)

i find it useful to run some ilx'ors posts through babelfish. they make more sense that way.

Yup. Tea is a nice little beverage that spruces up rainy afternoons. Coffee is the glue that holds my life together.

Darin, Friday, 21 May 2010 20:18 (fifteen years ago)

So is it terribly *common* to finish your evening meal with a cup of tea? because that's when I have to have one.
I would never get a hot tea from any American coffee place or probably even restaurant. Most of yr tea here is horrid. I'm not even a tea snob, I drink cheapo tea at home, there's just something about it here that tastes grim. I'd have a green or jasmine tea instead. Or coffee actually.

Not the real Village People, Friday, 21 May 2010 20:29 (fifteen years ago)

shoutout to sweet tea

dud rock (crüt), Friday, 21 May 2010 21:01 (fifteen years ago)

I had to stop drinking coffee completely in September 2008 because of my worsening ulcerative colitis. So I have to either vote tea or own up to my sadness. There are heart stabbing moments where I miss coffee so much I want to fall down and cry, but I am mostly happy w/the all tea life.

How am I supposed to vote if I am American but I will only drink british or even more preferably Irish teas? (At the moment, Barry's Irish Afternoon is my jam).

Agreed you are in serious trouble ordering tea at any american restaurant. Twinings, Stash, Bigelow, UGGGHH hate you all. In a restaurant situation I will actually order Lipton in preference to those.

On my 4th cup of Barry's at the moment...

the american or british in parentheses is meant to id the voter's nationality, not the origin of the product, right?

mizzell, Friday, 21 May 2010 21:07 (fifteen years ago)

I don't the teabags in the restaurant, I hate the water temp/quality!! Those stupid metal cans with "hot" water in them make a horrible cup of tea.

salad dressing of doom (Laurel), Friday, 21 May 2010 21:12 (fifteen years ago)

twinings sell some very good teas, their assam, english breakfast, darjeeling & assam are all good

coffee is better tho

Guns, Computer, The Internet (harbl), Friday, 21 May 2010 21:28 (fifteen years ago)

I like Bewlay's Irish Afternoon even better than Barry's but I only know one place to buy it.

Laurel OTM, if what first hits the bag is not legit hot water, you don't stand a frickin chance!

COFFEE, my first true love, you've been with me nearly 40 years now. YUMMMMM

Grisly Addams (WmC), Friday, 21 May 2010 21:47 (fifteen years ago)

I've been drinking Proper British Tea since I was 13; my best friend's dad was English and tea in the pot with CAKE was a regular afterschool thing for us. I have flat whites once or twice a week and only in the morning - it jangles if I have more than one coffee but decaf is a false economy because YUCK. My intake has jumped slightly because my nearest coffee is here:

http://www.theespressoroom.com/

and it is the finest cup in central London - I may begin providing them with for-sale cream cheese brownies because they're THAT nice. NB I can proudly say I have never once gone to Starbucks. However, I drink endless cups of tea and make pretty excellent chai because two of my Indian friends taught me how to make spiced tea years ago.

slowly learning to appreciate the virtues of black coffee

What happened? I am confused.

Is it far? Is it far? Is it far? (Jon Lewis), Friday, 21 May 2010 21:50 (fifteen years ago)

I can proudly say I go to Starbucks all the time because their regular coffee is cheaper than practically every other place around Boston (except maybe Trident?) and tastes pretty much the same.

ps: If you aren't drinking black coffee, you aren't actually drinking coffee, so gtfo

Have a slice of wine! (HI DERE), Friday, 21 May 2010 21:51 (fifteen years ago)

Thank you. When my guts still allowed me to drink coffee i took that shit black, 24/7.

weirdo foreigner coffee (britisher btw)

leck mich im arshavin (cozen), Friday, 21 May 2010 21:58 (fifteen years ago)

Black coffee turns my stomach and has since time. I only ever drink one shot of espresso and I need milk in it, just like I need milk in tea. Whole milk. Did I mention I was picky about food and drink?

Starbucks smells evil to me from 50 yards away, because of those shonky sugary mixes they do and tbf I am dealing with London Starbucks franchises (five within 200 yard radius of my flat ARGH) which are super-expensive compared to their American counterparts.

when the fertilizer hits the ventilator (suzy), Friday, 21 May 2010 21:59 (fifteen years ago)

i only need milk in bad coffee such as starbucks coffee

Guns, Computer, The Internet (harbl), Friday, 21 May 2010 22:00 (fifteen years ago)

There is something wrong with sbucks, like really. Some kind of strange musty charring.

Is it far? Is it far? Is it far? (Jon Lewis), Friday, 21 May 2010 22:01 (fifteen years ago)

there's a rumor that they burn their regular coffee, to steer customers toward their more expensive, whipped-type drinks.

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 21 May 2010 22:02 (fifteen years ago)

I STARTED THE RUMOR BUT NO MATTER

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 21 May 2010 22:02 (fifteen years ago)

Starbucks over-roasts. Coffee, untainted, medium roast, Sumatra. I take my tea with bourbon & lemon.

Ice Man Hearts Manly Interests, Friday, 21 May 2010 22:05 (fifteen years ago)

EVERYWHERE over-roasts in London apart from theespressorooms.com and selected branches of Caffé Nero (the only decent chain).

when the fertilizer hits the ventilator (suzy), Friday, 21 May 2010 22:11 (fifteen years ago)

I drink coffee in the morning/afternoon and tea at night.

brotherlovesdub, Friday, 21 May 2010 22:14 (fifteen years ago)

You are a wise man.

frozen cookie (Abbott), Friday, 21 May 2010 22:21 (fifteen years ago)

I'm kind of a coffee nut but I only have one, maybe two cups a day. I have been drinking tea lately, however one big problem I have is that the tea I make never matches up to restaurant tea, even if restaurant tea uses cheap tea leaves. what gives??

Face Book (dyao), Saturday, 22 May 2010 01:38 (fifteen years ago)

recently I've become addicted to this bottled tea at the canteen called 'bi lo chun' tea. it's flowery but not in a bad way like jasmine tea, which tastes like perfume. then I discovered bi lo chun is a type of green tea, and that a tea store close to me sells it, so I've been meaning to buy a sachet and see if I can replicate this cheap canteen bottled tea.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bi_Luo_Chun_tea

a good companion poll would be tea bagged or loose imo

Face Book (dyao), Saturday, 22 May 2010 01:41 (fifteen years ago)

Legend tells of its discovery by a tea picker who ran out of space in her basket, and put the tea between her breasts instead. The tea, warmed by her body heat, emitted a strong aroma that surprised the girl.

Face Book (dyao), Saturday, 22 May 2010 01:45 (fifteen years ago)

I love them both! Coffee is my bff... But I don't know where I'd be without my tea-ball and my loose leaf Earl grey. Best ever on a quiet morning or sad rainy afternoon. I declare a tie.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 22 May 2010 01:48 (fifteen years ago)
