Louise Bourgeois died of a heart attack today at the age of 98. she was truly an inspiration for me. let's celebrate her here!

98! a damn good innings
remember walking through roppongi alone in 08 going to meet friends - it was dusk and i was a bit lost, rounded a corner and suddenly came face to face (or...face to giant corrugated leg) with maman - was rather disconcerting as had only seen it a few months previously in london (for the second time) and had no idea there was a cast in tokyo too. it felt like the thing was stalking me for a moment.

one of the best museum experiences ever = MFA in Boston 2007, her giant spider sculpture is on display, a four-yr-old girl walks into the room, yells "AHHHH A SPIDER!!!" and runs screaming from the room

Love her. V sad, I thought she was eternal. Studied her in my 1st year uni art class, she made sculpture exciting to me.
