POLL: Least likely to succeed LOSTie in a post-LOST world.

Message Bookmarked

Like countless shows before it (like, say, Friends), the cast of LOST will have some runaway success stories (Jennifer Aniston) and some you never hear from again (Matt LeBlanc). Prognosticate away.

I'm limiting this poll mostly to the LOSTies themselves, with a few select non-crash characters.

I forgot Shannon and Boone, but what the hell ever.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 07:59 (fifteen years ago)

where's the "90% of these people" option?

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:06 (fifteen years ago)

i mean idk, i think it's probably not a good sign for tons of these people that, despite the relative popularity of this show, only, like, matthew fox, michelle rodriguez & evangeline lilly would get recognized by 95% of america

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:08 (fifteen years ago)

like, i've gathered that "locke" is a fairly important character in this show, but i'd have no idea who he is if he burst in my room and kicked me in the face

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:10 (fifteen years ago)

& i think the comparison to 'friends' is tenuous at best

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:10 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, I realized after I made it that it probz should have been "MOST" likely, since like you said 90% of these will just go back to being nobody actors.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:11 (fifteen years ago)

I dunno, Friends is a fair parallel because it consisted of a small core of a cast with lots of auxiliary players and, since it ended, you've had the fortunes of the actors go in every direction.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:13 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, if i had to choose "most likely to succeed"... i would go with josh holloway maybe? that's just cuz he looks like a conventional leading man, no idea about his talents as an actor. feel like matt fox & michelle rodriguez have careers that transcend lost. evangeline lilly also i guess

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:14 (fifteen years ago)

Mod to change objective of poll from "least" to "most" plz?!

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:15 (fifteen years ago)

xp Evangeline Lilly never acted before Lost, and has only done commercials since. Also, lots of people HATED Kate, so I don't expect big things from her in the future.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:16 (fifteen years ago)

idk man, i don't know that much about lost, but 'friends' had 6 characters that were in every single episode, with pretty much equal face time, and they were p much just sitting around on couches the whole time -- much more visible, obv aniston was already a huge star while the show was going on (cuz of her haircut i guess)... i don't think it can be accurately paralleled to lost...

like, i feel like 'lost' is totally about the storyline & not the characters. i guess this has been debated or maybe i'm totally wrong, but as an outsider i can confirm to you that the most famous character on the show - "the smoke monster" - is not even a person (?)

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:17 (fifteen years ago)

like, i feel like "the smoke monster" has transcended lost already as a symbol in pop culture for evil -- i don't think any of the actual human characters ever did that

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:18 (fifteen years ago)

A lot of these guys are pretty successful already! Alan Dale, Dominic Monaghan, Matthew Fox, Naveen Andrews, Daniel Dae Kim, Emilie de Ravin etc. Even the dude who plays Hurley was in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Probably going to be Malcolm David Kelley, invoking the child actor's rule, or maybe the woman who played Libby.

The Men Who Stare At Goatse (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:35 (fifteen years ago)

she was in the oscar-winning 'the hurt locker' too

transient truff (history mayne), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:38 (fifteen years ago)

xp - yeah, poor dude went from cute scamp to awkwardly hulkish adolescent w/ baritone vox just like the kid who played Ben Seaver on Growing Pains (whose name I can't recall because..)

in movie 2001 resurrect thread on planet jupiter (Pillbox), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:44 (fifteen years ago)

the woman who played Libby

She was actually on the Drew Carey Show before Lost, and has just joined the cast of House for the next season as Wilson's ex wife/new girlfriend. She's set for a while.

Also, I already forgot that Evangeline Lilly was in The Hurt Locker. HA!

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 08:46 (fifteen years ago)

Emilie de Ravin (Claire) - by far & consistently the worst of the main cast, tho hotness could alone allow for a thriving career

in movie 2001 resurrect thread on planet jupiter (Pillbox), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:11 (fifteen years ago)

^ She was just in that movie with Robert Pattinson, but it's not like she was a draw I don't think.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:13 (fifteen years ago)

she was so, so bad in the final season

transient truff (history mayne), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:13 (fifteen years ago)

She was okay in sideways limbo world (as okay as Claire ever got), but crazy island refugee Claire was almost always laughable.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:15 (fifteen years ago)

She's pretty good in Brick, albeit not in the sort of role you base a career upon.

The Men Who Stare At Goatse (Matt DC), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:20 (fifteen years ago)

I haven't seen Brick since it was new. I should go back and watch it again.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:26 (fifteen years ago)

V got renewed right, so that's Elizabeth Mitchell set for another year. Boone's busy being a sexy vampire on The Vampire Diaries. Daniel Dae Kim is going to be in the Hawaii Five-O remake. Mr. Friendly was in Happy Town but I think it's already been canceled (title was too misleading, viewers were confused).

AGGGGGROOOOOO CRAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG (reddening), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:33 (fifteen years ago)

I honestly don't have much confidence in Hawaii Five-O being around for very long.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:35 (fifteen years ago)

DDK is like the most TRAD AMERICAN HUNK asian actor out there, so he'll have as much work as he can handle, I'd guess.

in movie 2001 resurrect thread on planet jupiter (Pillbox), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:41 (fifteen years ago)

M.C. Gainey's in lots of stuff, he's recurring in Justified right now, though we'll see if he survives tonight's episode.

I don't know why CBS keeps giving Alex O'Loughlin shows - an exec there must be in love with him.

Nhex, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:47 (fifteen years ago)

Just saw that Jean Smart will have a support role in H5O. That's enough to make me at least watch the premiere.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 09:52 (fifteen years ago)

Whatever happens, I'm definitely curious to see what Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson get up to next. Josh Holloway was probably the most charming actor on the show, but I'm guessing (sadly) that a lifetime of shlock awaits.

Emerson and O'Quinn deserve better, and hopefully they won't get typecast. Isn't Emerson a proper theatre actor, anyway?

Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 12:28 (fifteen years ago)

Plus, odds on Matthew Fox playing Sandra Bullock's husband sometime before 2012.

Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 12:30 (fifteen years ago)

I predict Alan Dale will never work again.

mdskltr (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 12:34 (fifteen years ago)

maybe Holloway will finally get to be Gambit?

I'd like to see Emerson, Cusick, and Fahey in more stuff. Garcia and Leung were so good at comic relief that it'll be a shame if neither of them gets a sitcom in the next pilot season.

Christina NAGLera (some dude), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 13:19 (fifteen years ago)

I would definitely watch a cop show spin-off with Sawyer and Miles. Wall-to-wall wisecracks.

Haunted Clocks For Sale (Dorianlynskey), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 14:11 (fifteen years ago)

kinda depends what u mean by "succeed"

like bernard is obv never going to be a leading man (sorry dude) but might get character roles or show up as a supporting character in a csi type series or something

NUDE. MAYNE. (s1ocki), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 14:12 (fifteen years ago)

Bernard is/was in something with Alex right?

mdskltr (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:01 (fifteen years ago)

lol at the idea that jennifer aniston is a runaway success story

iatee, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:03 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i mean she wasn't the lead in a spin-off for a while!

mdskltr (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:04 (fifteen years ago)

i can imagine Terry O'Quinn turning up in the 24 movie

mdskltr (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

I voted Claire/Emilie De Ravin.

ô_o (Nicole), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

she's just done a film tho - awful-looking romama

mdskltr (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:08 (fifteen years ago)

It really bombed, though.

ô_o (Nicole), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:27 (fifteen years ago)

did it feature a bomb that went off?

mdskltr (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:28 (fifteen years ago)

imagine them all playing other characters in other shows but then having flashes of L O S T

mdskltr (blueski), Tuesday, 1 June 2010 15:29 (fifteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

true answer - lady who played rose

wishful answer - lady who played claire

nb Matt LeBlanc's post-FRIENDS career is going to pwn 95% of post-LOST careers.

JOEY ran for 46 episodes, and EPISODES "is expected to be aired on BBC and Showtime in 2010." He's also listed as an exec producer on JONAH HEX.

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Thursday, 10 June 2010 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

Oh man, I forgot all about that Episodes thing. (tbh, I don't see Jonah Hex doing big box office...it won't flop, but it won't be a blockbuster either.)

Johnny Fever, Friday, 11 June 2010 00:10 (fifteen years ago)

Matt LeBlanc's actually done more post-FRIENDS than David Schwimmer, who seems pretty happy hanging out counting his money.

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Friday, 11 June 2010 00:22 (fifteen years ago)

Schwimmer directed one or two dire-looking films.

Simon H., Friday, 11 June 2010 00:31 (fifteen years ago)

I haven't really thought about lost at all once it ended

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Friday, 11 June 2010 00:36 (fifteen years ago)

― Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 1 June 2010 12:28 (1 week ago)

yep, he has a background in pretty serious Alabama theater companies and probably other stuff I don't know about.
