This is difficult!

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Wednesday, 2 June 2010 21:05 (fifteen years ago)

Hard to go past the vomiting up of part-digested Jon Voight by the big snake

Attention please, a child has been lost in the tunnel of goats. (James Morrison), Thursday, 3 June 2010 00:02 (fifteen years ago)

GREAT POLL!

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 June 2010 00:03 (fifteen years ago)

These movies are pretty much infinitely watchable.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 June 2010 00:03 (fifteen years ago)

I have equally fond memories of both.

J-Lo's butt is a big factor here.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 June 2010 00:39 (fifteen years ago)

best J-Lo ass film imo.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 3 June 2010 00:40 (fifteen years ago)

I have seen neither of these but wasn't Lake Placid like this?

Tori, I must seem greatly intriguing (Stevie D), Thursday, 3 June 2010 01:12 (fifteen years ago)

voight is really bringing his A game in anaconda

sonderangerbot, Thursday, 3 June 2010 01:21 (fifteen years ago)

Lake Placid was way too sitcom-ish and self-consciously "quirky" for this poll

LINGO FROM THE BURGER KING KIDS CLUB (latebloomer), Thursday, 3 June 2010 21:26 (fifteen years ago)

I'm can't stop thinking Lake Placid is the Kurt Russell beats the Russians with Hockey movie.

Philip Nunez, Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:00 (fifteen years ago)

Samuel L Jackson's death scene truly a thing of beauty.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:05 (fifteen years ago)

But Anaconda has some much hilarity in it. Ice Cube as a wimp. Owen Wilson's screaming face badly CGI'd on the anaconda. The Shitty-Shitty-Shaman tribe. The anaconda puking up it's prey so it can kill it AGAIN.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:07 (fifteen years ago)

LL Cool J vs. Ice Cube would be an equally great poll.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:09 (fifteen years ago)

Volcano belongs in this poll as well btw. The lava in that movie is INCREDIBLY sneaky. As mean as any critter!

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:10 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah but Dante's Peak has an annoying grandma who gets burnt to a crisp in an acid lake.

Also has the DOG!

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:40 (fifteen years ago)

That said I feel like Dante's Peak and even the acid lake lack the sheer malevolence of the lava (or the sharks or the anaconda).

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:43 (fifteen years ago)

My favorite part of Anaconda is every time Voight says "Baby bird"

no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Thursday, 3 June 2010 22:45 (fifteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

speaking of birds, deep blue sea was just on (hadn't seen it before, thanks TNT), and the best part is when LL gets revenge on the shark for eating his parrot by hurling his zippo at it while screaming YOU ATE MY BIRD

When I saw Deep Blue Sea, I had Anaconda-like hopes for it, but it just did not measure up - it was about on par with Anaconda 3, however, the one with David Haselhoff.

sarahel, Saturday, 19 June 2010 19:00 (fourteen years ago)

Owen Wilson's screaming face badly CGI'd on the anaconda.

I forgot about this bit! Haha it was terrible. I forgot Owen Wilson was even in this movie.

dead flower :( (Pashmina), Saturday, 19 June 2010 20:24 (fourteen years ago)

that smart sharks movie is a stupid concept, which drains much of the fear factor from the notion of killer sharks.

but it's watchable, and i'll take it over anaconda, if only for the scene of samuel jackson's death.

Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 19 June 2010 20:26 (fourteen years ago)

Deep Blue Sea was one of the most entertaining moviegoing experiences I've ever had. I thought the movie was mad retarded, mind you, but the audience participation/response made it awesome.

LOS CATIOS (latebloomer), Sunday, 20 June 2010 02:50 (fourteen years ago)

HEAD LIKE A SHARK FIN!! :D

Deep Blue Sea ftw!!!!

VegemiteGrrrl, Sunday, 20 June 2010 02:53 (fourteen years ago)

thought of the sam jackson scene as soon as i saw this (very late but hey) -- glad to see it posted. all-time classic moment deserves mad votes. ANACONDA's fun but too self-consciously joaksy. DEEP BLUE SEA is indeed mad retarded but plays it straight to great effect.
