A copy of Harper Collins German Concise DIctionary that I appeared to have spilled an entire bottle of ink on, set it in the top of my closet to dry, and forgot about for a length of time that is at maximum 19 months.

A ball of neon green acrylic yarn of the brand Wintuk.

A yellow & green plaid golf hat that has moth holes AND what appears to be coal tar stuck to it (this was among a bunch of Ghostbusters toys).

Ooh, exciting thread, especially as I'm in pre-moving purgation myself. I wish I had documented some of my finds. Keep documenting!

I threw out a copy of Blanche Knott's Truly Tasteless Jokes that I bought in 7th grade in 1988 - that's kind of significant.

ugh we are in the middle of moving too!

not really related to the thread title but if anyone knows how to get that black mold/grime build-up off the sealant stuff around the shower floor, i would be most grateful; no amount of scrubbing seems to shift it.

A certain amount of mildew and grossness can indeed get into silicone caulk and may not be reachable/come out during cleaning. I'm really not sure why anyone would use silicone instead of normal rigid grout/caulk for bathroom applications anyway, the latter holds up much better ime. Seems lazy, maybe the silicone is easier to apply or something...but yeah you might be stuck with some grossness inside.

Only way to really eradicate that deep-down stuff is to pull out the old mess and re-caulk.

Why silicone? In every case, it is because the landlord using it is a cheap MF when it comes to home repairs.

Read: Every landlord, ever. Certainly mine. My goal in current place is to keep up w the cleaning well enough that the deep stuff can't develop. But let's see how I feel about that in humid NYC August when mold can achieve intelligent life in about three days.

I recommend oven cleaner for most terrible bath tub stains.
