Love Dominion, don't like Acquire, don't really know the others except Caylus - what're they like?

Thunderstone is a card game very similar to Dominion but it also is trying to be a Dungeon Crawler. It is definitely fun but there is less amount of cards than Dominion and I think at least one card is broken. Like Dominion someone will draw a certain amount of random cards from a pile at the start to see what cards you'll be using... you don't have to use the borked card.

Dixit is a game that would appeal to the casual gamer but it still ranks high on Board Game Geek. The big picture cards are imaginative and pretty. You can get creative with the sentences you say as the storyteller. It's 3-6 players

rules: "One player is the storyteller for the turn. He looks at the 6 images in his hand. From one of these, he makes up a sentence and says it out loud (without showing the card to the other players).

The other players select amongst their 6 images the one that best matches the sentence made up by the storyteller.

Then, each of them gives their selected card to the storyteller, without showing it to the others. The storyteller shuffles his card with all the received cards. All pictures are showed face up, randomly, and every player has to bet upon what picture was the storyteller's.

If nobody or everybody finds the correct picture, the storyteller scores 0, and each of the other players scores 2. Otherwise the storyteller and whoever found the correct answer scores 3. Players score 1 point for every vote gotten by their own pic.

The game ends when the deck is empty. The greatest total wins the game."

Battlestar Galactica or BSG is the most popular game at the gaming store around here. It ranks high on Board Game Geek (#17) and can have very different gameplay eachtime. Players have a card that only they can see. It says either you are a cylon or not a cylon. The cylon tries to cause the players to lose. When you reveal you are a cylon is important. There is a lot more to this game and expansion cards.

Shadow Hunters is like Bang!, good for large groups. People are either shadow, neutral, or hunters. No one reveals who they are at the start. On your turn you roll a die and your player piece goes to one of 8 places corresponding to the die roll. There are 3 decks of cards you could be drawing from. One is healing type instants and equipment. One is destruction instants and equipment. One lets you try to figure out what type of character anyone is. After you draw and play a card (if you land on a draw space) you can attack a player on an adjacent place on the board. On the side of the game board there is a spiral track for how much damage any player has. I prefer Bang to Shadow Hunters because I feel like you have more control. Theres some good Bang! expansion cards as well. Both games are relatively easy to learn and could be great party type games

the first one is fun tho I haven't picked up on if there's any strategy to it or if it's just running away until someone is the winner. the second i'm still learning how to play (thru a series of youtube videos -- don't know why I never thought about learning games by watching youtube videos before, it's brilliant. next i'm gonna see if i can find any youtubes w/ arkham horror playthrus).
