1. This has been going around lately --http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8627/1977ipod.jpg
I'm pretty sure it was rendered on a computer somehow -- I'm guessing some combination of 3D modeling and photoshop -- but I don't think I'd in a million years figure out how.??
2. This is pretty old, but I never figured out how they did it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvqakws0CeU
but it's explained here (plus software to do it):http://github.com/grampajoe/Autodatamosh

Pocket Hi-Fi looks like a straightforward 3D model.

1st one is probably just photoshop.

well we can agree - there's no need for both.

Unless there are headphones that look like that?

Going by the rest of the shots here they are definitely 3D models.

Ha, I wish I knew how to apply 70s retro filter to my 3d models.
3. There are no tricks in this guide, but it sure demystifies makingpixelly portraits:

in the old days i think they must have had an artist airbrush over a photo. i have no idea how they make it look all 70s-y though (other than being in the 70s)
― Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 23 June 2010 01:55 (fourteen years ago)
well - there's no full-on black anywhere for starters.

I'm certainly no pro, but the overwhelming love from adding meows to the theme from mad menmakes me ashamed, because it is just a collection of cheap tricks that I would like to share with you so that you, too, can add cats to things:
1. download the source video2. download the soundtrack to the source video(i use dirpy for both these steps)
3. load soundtrack into garage band4. download a bunch of cat samples5. in garageband, open a musical keyboard on the sound effects instrument.drag and drop the cat samples to each key. now you have a primitive cat piano6. hit record, using the same musical keyboard, hit the key when you want the cat to meow7. export to mp3
8. in quicktime open the source movie9. there's a window to inspect the movie -- there will be a video and audio track -- delete the audio track10. in quicktime open the cat-enabled mp311. select and copy (cmd-A) -- this will copy the audio12. select the source movie -- there will be in option in the menu to add the new cat audio to the movie -- do it.13. save and now there be cats.
By the way, I'm still searching for a good cat synthesizer, but the industry seems determined to devote its energies to modeling vintage rolands instead.
