Burley's really bad on Scottish football because he has a massive chip on his shoulder about the way he left Celtic and can't get over it enough to even pretend to be neutral. He's just shit at this international lark though.

Just read that Uruguay's population is roughly 3 1/2 million. Can this be right? Thought it was much larger than that. If so they're pretty amazing for having a player pool less than half the size of London.

No, that's right - I think it's about the same size as the UK, but almost empty outside Montevideo

I guess this will be the last time we get to see him on the world stage. I'm sure the twice European Golden Boot winner is glad he just got some recognition from some pundits who have a vague memory of him playing in England a few years ago. Seriously though, hats off to Uruguay. A realtively teeny country with a fanstastic World Cup history, which i was glad to see them add to this year.

Forlan is not only incredibly efficient but... he does everything with supreme power, precision and style. I mean, he just looks so fucking COOL and RAD out there. The twelve-year old me sitting bored at the back of the class couldn't draw the superhero-like action poses that this guy routinely pulls off.

I dunno, the final will be more entertaining because, y'know, it's the final, and there's actually something at stake beyond the Golden Boot, yesterday's was a lot of fun but had the air of exhibition match about it, and there's a reason why no one gets that bothered about exhibition matches. It was an open game because no one cared much if they lost, but take the tension out of football and you take away most of the fun.

Really felt for Klose - the opportunity to become the all-time top World Cup goalscorer just snatched away from you.
