I love David Wain but this movie didn't really do it for me.

no turkey unless it's a club sandwich (polyphonic), Monday, 12 July 2010 21:14 (fifteen years ago)

prob my favorite comedy of the 2000s. A lot of people say they only liked a few of the commadments or found it hit or miss, but I have no idea what they're talking about. Its just non-stop awesome to me.

da croupier, Monday, 12 July 2010 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

this was funny. cat scan rivalry was pretty weird, can't remember who was in that?

sonderangerbot, Monday, 12 July 2010 21:32 (fifteen years ago)

liev schreiber and joe la truglio

right. good casting too.

sonderangerbot, Monday, 12 July 2010 21:36 (fifteen years ago)

'the goof' is kind of the only really good thing in this movie but it's fucking great

young werther's originals (s1ocki), Monday, 12 July 2010 21:43 (fifteen years ago)

i didn't 'understand' the movie (especially the first section) but it's full of funny lines imo

prolly need too see it sober to remember some

but 'go fly a kite' thing, dianne wiest, the kid pitching a tv show... gold

'the goof' is kind of the only really good thing in this movie

statements like this are as baffling to me as someone saying "i only liked ling ling" at the cute bear part of a zoo.

da croupier, Monday, 12 July 2010 21:56 (fifteen years ago)

8/10 of these are a+ hilarity (not a huge fan of the first one or the rhino). i've stopped recommending it to people though, since no one else finds it funny. :/

dr ken marino kills patient 'as a goof'
oliver platt as eddie murphy
cat scan rivalry

these are the main ones I remember being funny.

it WAS A GOOF

"did you or did you not..."

"AS A GOOF!"

ken marino, paul rudd and liev schrieber are the a+++++ mvps of this but really everyone is great all around, except for the cartoon which puts off a v shitty ~~racially awkward~~ vibe

max, Tuesday, 13 July 2010 03:34 (fifteen years ago)

I WOULD SEE THIS

Winona Ryder is genuinely hilarious in her scene. Paul Rudd's joke about being in Famke Janssen's neighborhood and needing to take a shit had me howling in the theater (and I was the only person laughing).

Becky Facelift, Monday, 26 July 2010 23:45 (fifteen years ago)

Broing down naked style has naked Craig Wedren from Shudder to Think (as also seen in WHAS extra features).

Becky Facelift, Monday, 26 July 2010 23:46 (fifteen years ago)

This is way too hard to vote on. Only bit that was a bummer at all to me was Adam Brody scene (he plays it too broad, which I realize is a weird thing to say for a movie like this).

Becky Facelift, Monday, 26 July 2010 23:47 (fifteen years ago)

The dwarf in the Gretchen Mol Jesus scene was killing me too. Fine, shit, going to re-watch now.

i'm another one of those unfortunate souls living in isolation from others who think this movie is one of the funniest in the last howevermany years. otm re: not recommending it to people anymore, since no one finds it funny. also, since no one else will, i will rep the rhino cartoon. lines like, "i heard she sucked some guy's balls in the parking lot" or "that bee is a white supremist," or the lead in, "i'm definitely going to need some more heroin" crack me up. also A+ call-back with the stephen montgomery t-shirt.

Wain is from one of those boring conceptual comedy troupes, right
