i quite like this mag - good design, interesting articles, though theres something a bit fanziney (not a bad thing) about it, while also something kinda 'corporate' about it, though im having trouble explaing what exactly, which might mean theres nothing corporate about it, and im just easily swayed by the piece in the metro where i read they were part of some advertising agency. still, the new issue about the future of cinema is very good if a bit cheerleady, no one saying anything remotely negative, its all very positive about the future.

d

little white lies SUCKS

HATE the UNNAVIGABLE design

DO NOT RATE the writing

DO NOT "GET" the concept of basing a whole issue on a film, especially a mediocre film

can you expand on the metro article? sounds interesting

maybe i should read the new one

but seriously it's pretty lame

you want to read film comment, son

the writing can be a bit insipid, yes.

and yeah i hate the whole theme issue thing. thats what makes it feel corporate sponsored. plus it just seems fillerish. even more so when they dedicate entire issues to kick ass and tetro :|

i cant remember the metro article but it basically said they were affilated with an ad agency. googling might reveal which one.

but i dunno what other film mags to get. sight and sound - cool but sometimes a bit too well behaved. empire - actually good writing, but too hollywood blockbuster focused and not enough challenging choices. total film - not reading that. so im left with LWL.

i dont know what film comment is. but ill read it as long as its not stuffy.

LWL may as well be a blog rly -- kind of odd that none of the big film blogs are british come to think of it
