Confusion with the occasional dab of Stupor.

Haunted Clocks For Sale (Dorianlynskey), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:15 (fifteen years ago)

Death may occure

The 'e' on the end makes it sound like something from a Medieval medical text book:

yea, if more than twenty tankards of ale are drunk, death may occure

ninjas and lasers and gold and (snoball), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:18 (fifteen years ago)

dunno. I remember once waking up at a train station in the middle of rural Norfolk at 4am, covered in blood and vomit. My bag was on the other side of the track. There was a £20 note stuffed into my back pocket.

Dwight Yorke, Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:19 (fifteen years ago)

I think that's called 'somewhere between 3 and 4'...

ninjas and lasers and gold and (snoball), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:21 (fifteen years ago)

Although it could possibly be a 10 on the Good Night Out scale, depending on whose blood and vomit it was.

ninjas and lasers and gold and (snoball), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:22 (fifteen years ago)

Haha. I'd had 4 pints max, so not sure what happened there.

Dwight Yorke, Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:24 (fifteen years ago)

Maybe someone slipped you a mickey.

Haunted Clocks For Sale (Dorianlynskey), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:25 (fifteen years ago)

stupor is going to win this by about 50 votes. most of us were undergrads at some point.

Anti-Suggest Ban Order (acoleuthic), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:27 (fifteen years ago)

Are you acoleuthic from DiS?

Dwight Yorke, Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:33 (fifteen years ago)

of course!

Anti-Suggest Ban Order (acoleuthic), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:33 (fifteen years ago)

Dwight Yorke, Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:35 (fifteen years ago)

ah cool! yeah I've seen you about now and then. ILX and DiS serve mostly very different purposes - the latter for a more knockabout British sensibility and a love of weird alternative/indieprog/whatever, and ILX for rounded* cosmopolitan discourse (not that there isn't an overlap)

*grown-up

Anti-Suggest Ban Order (acoleuthic), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:38 (fifteen years ago)

I mean, it's a damn good thing DiS doesn't have a Suggest Ban button, is all I'm saying, because my principles would be sorely tested in that case

Anti-Suggest Ban Order (acoleuthic), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:41 (fifteen years ago)

Oh shit, I thought this was "which do you prefer" so I voted for euphoria. I've definitely been a 4.

grab you by the boo-boo and don't let go (kkvgz), Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:52 (fifteen years ago)

Anyone who votes for 6 is bragging, IMO.

Tuomas, Saturday, 24 July 2010 11:52 (fifteen years ago)

Stomach pumped somewhere between 5 & 6. Second highest BAC on record to have lived at the local hospital. Not braggin' - more stating why I don't drink any more.

The Milkman's Wife (Masonic Boom), Saturday, 24 July 2010 13:44 (fifteen years ago)

probably between a 3 and a 4, the fateful night I somehow spent half an hour in the club toilet (doing what, besides a little vomiting, I can't remember. Falling asleep on the wall, maybe) before being politely asked to leave. Then I somehow made it home, sent a bunch of jibberish texts, then fell asleep w/ light, tv, clothes on. Then I had to get an 8am train to do a 9 to 5 day of taking minutes at meetings. That day was not a good day.

For a couple of days I tried blaming it on a spiked drink, as I'd only had about four or five pints, till I remembered that I'd forgotten to have dinner that night. D'oh.

Merdeyeux, Saturday, 24 July 2010 14:19 (fifteen years ago)

Anyone who votes for 6 is bragging, IMO.

I've kinda always suspected that we have had a few undead posters, though. If you held your ear up to Marissa's and Callum's posts, you could sometimes hear a telltale cry of "Brains..."

My answer to the poll question: Zero. I'm kind of suspecting that I'll get to a one at least once in my life, though.

Confusion pwns

PappaWheelie V, Saturday, 24 July 2010 14:33 (fifteen years ago)

I think I've been to stage 3 once (first time I drank...horrible situation), stage 2 one other time, and otherwise never beyond stage 1.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Saturday, 24 July 2010 14:34 (fifteen years ago)

I think I spent most of my 20s in 3. Been to 4 a couple times but it's an awful place and hope never to return.

chuck entertainment cheese (crüt), Saturday, 24 July 2010 15:15 (fifteen years ago)

Went to Vegas with one guy friend and four girls, I have six hours that I don't remember.
Was at the bar doing shots with friends, then blank until 7:30 in the morning when girl smacked me across the face to bring me back to reality (I was talking to her as if she were an entirely different person). Apparently I wasn't even acting drunk during these six hours, just a complete personality change. Presumption is that one of the girls had handed off a shot to me that she didn't want, and someone had been trying to dose her.

So assuming that was not booze-related specifically, 3.5 has been my peak I think.

yeah that sounds like roofiez

Somewhere between 4 and 5 afaik

flashing drill + penis fan (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 24 July 2010 15:37 (fifteen years ago)

Between 1 and 2 for me are sometimes bouts of hiccups, which is pretty classic.

Beach Pomade (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 24 July 2010 16:28 (fifteen years ago)

Don't think I've ever hit stupor, even in my frankly fucking Herculean days when I was 18-22. Even after a dozen pints of Guinness I still managed to dance. Never been into spirits enough to kill myself. Once shat myself in the middle of a pub once, but was probably only about on a 2 then; Guinness plus spicy food equals bad times.

Captain Ostensible (Scik Mouthy), Saturday, 24 July 2010 16:39 (fifteen years ago)

Interested to see how many votes 6 gets

The reverse TARDIS of pasta (Niles Caulder), Sunday, 25 July 2010 01:51 (fifteen years ago)

Undergrad days, 3 was normal, 4 was a bender. Happy to say I haven't made it past 2 for a good while. Stomach lining well and truly in tact these days. Oof.

VegemiteGrrrl, Sunday, 25 July 2010 06:31 (fifteen years ago)

this makes no sense to me. i go straight from sober to puking sick.

sunny successor, Sunday, 25 July 2010 06:33 (fifteen years ago)

which prob explains why i havent had a drink for 3 years and even then it was only because my sister in law ordered cristal or dom or something and i felt obliged.

sunny successor, Sunday, 25 July 2010 06:34 (fifteen years ago)

it's like i don't even know u

mookieproof, Sunday, 25 July 2010 06:48 (fifteen years ago)

going from 5 to 1 pretty much describes my first few hours after waking up every morning.

I DIED, Sunday, 25 July 2010 06:57 (fifteen years ago)

Got to 3 extremely regularly, vommed tons of times but never really reached 4. I really wish drinking was as exciting as it used to be; now I barely reach a 1.

Not the real Village People, Sunday, 25 July 2010 07:10 (fifteen years ago)

3 or 4, but not quite sure whether "standing up may still be physically possible but the room is spinning too much to attempt it" is 2, 3 or 4 on this list. I have luckily always managed to get myself home and into bed before holding on for dear life with eyes shut and ignoring distant noises and shoulder-rattlings from concerned flatmates, so I guess 3.

And yep, one of my worst drunkennesses was also when not much booze seemed to combine with some other unexpected toxicity from bad food or cheap nasty booze and kick my ass, brain and liver. On that occasion I was just drinking on my own, the cheapest stuff I could find but not that strong, so not roofied. I remember crawling to the bathroom and hoping nobody found me resorting to crawling after drinking about half what I'd had the night before to no ill effect at all. (OK, maybe the multiple nights in a row thing may be to blame there)

LOL @ all the death votes.

Gumbercules (Trayce), Wednesday, 28 July 2010 00:47 (fifteen years ago)

And yeah even 3 is a bad overdoing it night for me these days, but when yr almost 40 and have been drinking steadily for 15 years, that'll happen.

Gumbercules (Trayce), Wednesday, 28 July 2010 00:51 (fifteen years ago)

i'd say split those death votes 50/50 between non-drinkers who are being puckish, and heavy drinkers who aren't willing to admit they've hit 4/5 before

pies. (gbx), Wednesday, 28 July 2010 00:52 (fifteen years ago)

i've made it to 3 with 4 in sight, but i never get that far. by the time i've had that much i'm usually looking for a bed. or la-z-boy. or rug or whatever i can pass out on. 3 is when the best and worst things happen.
