Bad crisps are really rank tho. I had to think a bit before giving them the nod over bagels but it wd be outrageous fronting to vote the other way really.

Was stuck on crab vs poutine until I remembered soft-shell crab, then voted crab. Pie vs. falafel and potato chips vs. bagels my first two real "meh vs. meh" of this tourney.

Pie vs. Falafel -- I'm not a huge lover of sweets, and I like a good fresh falafel (as long as someone else is making it), but I just had the best coconut custard pie I've ever eaten, along with a piece of really luscious chess pie. Pie wins.

Crisps vs. Bagels -- I eat a lot of corn chips and tortilla chips and the occasional potato chip, but I hate myself every time I do. They're just filler. The bagel wins it.

Berries vs. Burritos -- burritos are great, but there's no reason I can't lay all the inside ingredients out separately and eat them without calling it a burrito. I can't imagine a world without blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries.

Crab vs. Poutine -- fuck a poutine, somebody give me a case of (dungeness) crabs.

this is the poll that breaks my streak of picking the unhealthy option every time. poutine... it's just too much.

the weird thing about poutine is that it looks incredibly simple to make, but there aren't really that many places that get it right.

I didn't know what "poutine" was either, had to google it. I kinda feel bad for voting for such a disgusting thing, but as vegetarian I still had to choose it, as crab is even more disgusting.

Falafel is pretty much my favourite veggie dish ever, but I wish it had been matched with something similar to it in function, instead of such a wide and varied category as "sweet pies". Still, falafel.

Tuomas, vegetarian gravy is possible (made with a good rich roasted vegetable stock, it would be really good), so vegetarian poutine is possible.

for the poutine objectors i totally get why on the surface it seems dull or gross (my thoughts until some got forced on me) but then you have a good poutine and your eyes are opened to the stars

Bagels over falafel narrowly for me, but the general question of Ashkenazic vs. Sephardic is a tough one -- Iraqi and Yemeni Israelis make some amazing freaking food but in the end I think my sentimental attachment to pickled herring, stuffed cabbage, lox and bagel, whitefish salad, and pastrami, for god's sake, pastrami! keeps me home with my people.

We shall return to this important issue in round 2.

in two days i am going to be eating wild blueberries in ontario cottage country as i pick them directly off the whatever-they-grow-on. never had a wild blueberry before. will have a mo of silence to remember their slaughter vs. burritos. perhaps i will wrap them in a flatbread w/ beans and bury it because that probably has significance or something.
