tomatoes v ice cream is really hard!

horseshoe, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:47 (fifteen years ago)

watermelon or lamb is the choosing between my two kids decision of the tournament so far

You’re going off of her word that the farmer’s wife is the farmer’s wife? (dyao), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:48 (fifteen years ago)

watermelon is kind of bullshit imo. THERE, I SAID IT.

horseshoe, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:48 (fifteen years ago)

bet you hate cucumber too

You’re going off of her word that the farmer’s wife is the farmer’s wife? (dyao), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:49 (fifteen years ago)

i don't! watermelons never taste like anything. could do without melons in general tbrr.

horseshoe, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:50 (fifteen years ago)

maybe we should just call you lamb-shoe

You’re going off of her word that the farmer’s wife is the farmer’s wife? (dyao), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:50 (fifteen years ago)

ha i do totally love lamb. it features heavily in the regional cooking of the region of india my parents are from. i'm, like, genetically programmed to find it delicious.

horseshoe, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:51 (fifteen years ago)

Hot Dogs, Ice Cream, Spinach, Lamb

lentils fucking suck, HARD choice here actually but im taking it as just a tomato being a tomato so went w/variety, spinach is one of the best foods ever (although wait did broccoli get cut because if so SHAKING MY FIST AT YOU WMC), lamb only thx to middle eastern context and watermelon is ehhhh whatever

xpost 100% agree w/horsehoe re: melons. bleh and boring. cucumbers OTOH are the fucking shit and i love them

I DONT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR SAVED CHALK (jjjusten), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:51 (fifteen years ago)

Lentils, Tomatoes, Savoury Pies, Lamb

this wasn't hard for me - the one I'm particularly adamant about is Tomatoes - goddamn I love tomatoes

Anti-Suggest Ban Order (acoleuthic), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:52 (fifteen years ago)

feel like you guys have never eaten watermelon properly, I welcome you to my house

You’re going off of her word that the farmer’s wife is the farmer’s wife? (dyao), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:52 (fifteen years ago)

once i made watermelon margaritas and they were delicious but they mostly tasted like tequila and lime and salt.

horseshoe, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:53 (fifteen years ago)

Hot Dogs, Ice Cream, Savory Pies, Lamb

ciderpress, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:53 (fifteen years ago)

Watermelon haters, I wish you could all come to my house RIGHT NOW, I have a back yard full of amazing melons. AND I'M ALLERGIC TO THEM.

Grisly Addams (WmC), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:54 (fifteen years ago)

LJ OTM IN THIS THREAD

i don't think i've taken longer than like 2 seconds to vote in any of these.

anyway, JJ and horseshoe are also on it---watermelon is fun, but w/e. cucumbers are like eating water. but in the best possible way.

i think you have an anti-sweet-food bias! but yeah, tomatoes are so good.

horseshoe, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:57 (fifteen years ago)

honestly hate sweets

be told and get high on coconut (gbx), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:57 (fifteen years ago)

Lentils, tomatoes, spinach, watermelon. Even if I did eat meat, I think it makes sense to choose the ones that offer more versatility to your diet instead of a particular dish like hot dog whose removal would narrow it only a little.

Tuomas, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:58 (fifteen years ago)

wow tbh i didn't even realize that spinach was the contender against savory pies. i love spinach!

but not enough.

be told and get high on coconut (gbx), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:59 (fifteen years ago)

spinach vs savory pies is giving me a heartache
love both so much

haven't voted yet, gotta let it simmer

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:59 (fifteen years ago)

simmering will favor spinach tbh

Hot Dogs, Ice Cream, Spinach, Watermelon

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:00 (fifteen years ago)

savory pies can contain spinach, so i'll go for that even though i love raw spinach A LOT and eat it almost every day
could not care less about lamb or watermelon, so voted Lentils, Tomatoes, Savory Pies, Watermelon

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

hahaha dude if there is a food that demonstrates the definition of "versatility" it is the hot dog. just ask upton sinclair

xpost to tuomas

also feeling RONG about kneejerk spinach vote but ehhh idk i love it lots

I DONT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR SAVED CHALK (jjjusten), Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

here's what you do with a watermelon; don't cut it into salices, instead, cut it in half and then use a long knife and cut that shit into big raectangular cubes, scoop em out with a spoon. If you got a nice juicy sweet melon, put one of them cubes in your mouth, just crush on it, let all that sweet juice run into your gullet, maybe chill it first if the day is really hot

for lamb, go to inner Mongolia, they'll do you right

You’re going off of her word that the farmer’s wife is the farmer’s wife? (dyao), Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:01 (fifteen years ago)

^^^i have a quest

be told and get high on coconut (gbx), Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:02 (fifteen years ago)

Watermelon is good because it gives another excuse to add ginger to food.

WOOD! GOBLINS! (NickB), Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:03 (fifteen years ago)

Hang on, why didn't I nom ginger?

WOOD! GOBLINS! (NickB), Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:03 (fifteen years ago)

Ice-cream is great and all, but cmon guys it's not food, it's light entertainment

Anti-Suggest Ban Order (acoleuthic), Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:05 (fifteen years ago)

i love melon! i just don't love watermelon. it's alright. better than lamb, which (even as a carnivore) i like better alive.

ghee hee hee (La Lechera), Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:06 (fifteen years ago)

wmc, if you want an effective watermelon substitute you could always dribble some sugar water over a waxed sponge. serve and enjoy.

I love ice cream, but I can live without it. Tomatoes, otoh, are such an essential building block of my diet I dunno what I'd do if they didn't exist.

really? neat!

sorry horseshoe. I really honestly do love ice-cream, but I think of it as a nice treat, an indulgence, whereas tomatoes are an absolutely staple part of most cooking I truly love, and I can eat the small ones like popcorn - tomato-laden bruschetta is just...amazing, a full meal and a healthy one

spinach over savory pies is dumb & I'd had more time to spend around here I'd have lobbied stronger for savory pies on the basis of the mighty salteña, nem, and jambon en croûte. Tears in rain.

Euler, Wednesday, 28 July 2010 06:24 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah I mean spinach can even be a savoury pie component. You could have had both you idiots!

JimD, Wednesday, 28 July 2010 06:29 (fifteen years ago)

you cannot have fresh spinach as savory pie component. nor something simple as sauteed/steamed spinach, chopped or not, with fat & garlic or not. mushroom pie is awesome, but i never eat it and would happily make the sacrifice just so i could order gomae at sushi joints.

I think what makes them so fun is that you can vote totally without guilt? Like, I have no way of making an informed vote on Can vs Biggie or whatever, I just don't have the musical knowledge, but pizza? That is a thing that I have eaten.

Gravel Puzzleworth, Wednesday, 28 July 2010 13:44 (fifteen years ago)
