Yeah, but again I gotta go for versatility - losing one dish vs. losing the basic ingredient for many great dishes (plus it's tasty as such), it was easy to choose bananas.

Brown bananas > tacos > green bananas

Tacos are great if you like SALMONELLA.

Something you surprisingly don't get with Bananas.

I had fresh shrimp for the first time about two years ago... It is such a revelation compared to frozen bland jelly shrimp

Confit de Canard vs. Sushi -- confit's great, I even made my own, but not EVEN a choice. Sushi.

Tacos vs. Bananas -- I actually don't eat bananas except in the form of banana bread, so tacos.

Sausage vs. Shrimp -- tough one. I eat more than my share of both, but ultimately I love shrimp more.

Waffles vs. Limes -- considering that I buy limes by the 3# bag, not a tough choice.

Sushi, Tacos, Sausage, Waffles, though I love duck, and would probably love duck confit if I ever had it. (Maybe I have, and just though of it as duck, who knows.) Definitely love sushi, and ate it all the time in New York, though, so that gets the nod. Waffles would have only butter and cinnamon, fwiw, no syrup or sugar, gross. Sausage preferably the chicken or turkey kind these days (hey, I'm health conscious), green onion or garlic flavor.

Oh shit, didn't see shrimp up there! So I was wrong: Voting Sushi, Tacos, Shrimp, Waffles instead. (Eat sausage more, but like shrimp more, and eat it enough.)

CONFIT > sushi: My only tactical vote. The very best sushi I've had is better than the very best confit de canard I've had, but confit de canard is like the compulsory small-conference invite to this tournament and it deserves a good showing against the Duke that is sushi, because it's really remarkable and too many of you have never had it.

TACOS > bananas: Surely bananas are high on the fruit list mostly for their convenience? They are vaguely fruity starch. Bananas are to fruit as chicken is to meat. I eat a lot of bananas and chicken, but I voted against both because you can't take them seriously against more interesting competition.

LIME > waffles: Limes taste like nothing else on earth. A waffle is a pancake putting on airs.

i don't really like waffles, and the important drinking applications of the lime need to be considered on top of its food value.

but iatee, think of the incredible number of things that become 90% less delicious absent garlic. salsa, tomato sauce, aoli, roast lamb, hummus, guac, curry dishes, greek anythying, italian anything, thai anything, mexican anything, etc.

I'm not saying it doesn't have its merits! just that it's absolutely less of a meal than anything listed.

I have an uncle who eats raw garlic and vinegar before every meal. he is nearing 60 but is as wiry and strong as a man half his age.

garlic breath really isn't that bad, imo

people say it gets into your pores and other body juices
