if tacos were up against any vegetable they'd lose for me - whereas there are plenty of veggie burritos, tacos pretty much went the way of the dodo when I stopped eating meat. but sausage is just plain gross, so tacos. eggs are frittatas, omelettes, souffles, all manner of amazing spanish dishes, thai steamed eggs with garlic & oil which are just insane...french fries are just the thing sometimes but it's kind of a joke to think of them as even being in the same class with eggs. chocolate vs. hamburgers, c'mon, how consumed with self-loathing to you gotta be to vote for a damn hamburger against chocolate and I say this as a guy who in his day was known to go to TOWN on a hamburger.

Jaymc, I don't eat eggs very much myself - not these days anyway. I used to have them all the time as a kid. Nowadays I'm only too aware of their unhealthy levels of cholesterol and what have you, plus they're not THAT nice. Voting for them here though, because fuck you french fries

Spinach is great in a curry but I could live without it and could not live without ice cream, though I've been trying

I am not allowed to express any opinion on tacos but sausages are great dammit, plus such a variety of meat and herbs/spices that can be wrapped up into sausage form (personally I was including anything that would qualify as either "saucisson" or "Wurst", but really I am mainly voting for yr humble banger+mash, or a good pork+herb/chili sausage in a freshly-baked bun)

You caught my little sleight of hand. Both eggs and french fries require salt, but eggs require nothing more imho, whereas fries need a condiment to really bloom on the taste buds.

Not that eggs can't be enhanced by additional flavors, but they don't need them.

It was a veggie burger, with the cheese in place of the patty.

re St Ives: when we went a few years back, there was a great little veggie place In a tin shack tucked away behind the Sloop somewhere. Dunno if that's still there, but the food was awesome. Also, some of the pasty shops do a+++ veg curry pasties.

You may be right, eggs could be their undoing but I wouldn't get complacent at all. Lacking in iron and other essential nutrients veggos flabby minds are conditioned to the power of celebrity and *someone* will be hauling them in, like moths to a lettuce leaf. Never forget the pie people.

Think I went with the "saturated fat sweeps the board" approach for this one. Hard to say goodbye to french fries but eggs come in so many ace forms! (To make this possible I had to exclude Tater Tots from the "french fries" category. Oh my God, I want Tater Tots so much right now. I want to go to the record store, buy the new Arcade Fire album, and listen to it while I eat Tater Tots.)

So many tough choices between great foods at this point that I have to start taking off points for "foods that people have prissily precise and fervent opinions about," which is how I get rid of chocolate and tacos. But obv. this is true for hamburgers and pizza as well and I keep voting for those. Hard times.

dude, it was a taco - you can have carnitas tacos - not sure where your hamburger meat concept of the taco comes from, but around here the meat that comes from cows that goes in a taco is steak, not hamburger, unless you're talking about Taco Bell
