oh man *shudders*, I am surprised I still had a functioning liver at the end of my teenage years. So aye, no big fan of cuba libre, but that stuff and its equivalents put me off cider for life.

Longueville cidre is great. Better ciders of Normandy and Brittany are great.

Gimlets are among the 95% of drinks in this poll that I would be embarrassed to ask for at a bar. (this might have something to do with living in a village with 2 pubs [across the road from each other] and lots of asshole soldiers - maybe in your hoity toity London/NY etc. you can get away with it.)

you people have weird drink ettiquette. daquiri or mudslide = laugh at you drink. gimlets, martinis, manhattans, etc = respectable cocktails.

gimlet is nothing but gin and lime juice, two of the best drink mates available

The important caveat with cider is that it has to be either Kentish cider (that cloudy, 14% stuff, that tastes of magic apples) or the very very weak stuff they serve in Asturias, ideally poured from a great height to encourage froth and bubbles, which can be drunk throughout the night, and magically keeps you in a state of permanent, pleasurable, but light intoxication.

The rest are no-brainers for me.
