It's a great time to be a minority in America

First, there is the immigration furor targeting Hispanics.

Then, there is the nationwide furor over mosques being built in several cities, including most famously the one in NYC near Ground Zero.

Now, scanning CNN.com I just came across two stories on the front page about murder/assault suspects targeting black people:

my cousin facebooked about the mosque thing and said one is opening on 9/11 (who knows if it really is). then he said he wished he had his own plane. really discomforted when members of my own family talk like that.

Yeah, all this sucks, but compare it to circa 1925 and we are living in a minority paradise, even with all the crapulous bigotry cited above.

I think the fear is that we may backslide a bit!

i'm not worried about latinos. their population in the u.s. is huge and the only reason whites are in an uproar is cuz they're afraid that whites won't be the majority for very much longer and they'll die off and lose all their power.

I think what offends me even more than Dr. Laura using the N-word is the sheer presumptuousness of deciding for a black woman what sorts of things she should find racially offensive.

dr. laura thing is infuriating in the extreme.

but i have to wonder, why would this woman be calling dr. laura for advice? i'm not alleging conspiracy or anything, i just think it's kind of sad. did she think dr. laura would help? i can't imagine being in a place in life where i thought i could really use dr laura's help. it seems awful all around.

Jesus Christ at the Dr Laura thing. As if there needed to be any more proof that that woman is one of the most despicable people on the planet.

dr laura's appeal is the same as dr phil's: get people w/problems that have "obvious" "solutions" to call in/appear and then berate them for being idiots, and the listeners get satisfaction at hearing these people get scolded for not doing the obvious thing, which is still not often the right thing but rather the quick and easy thing. sometimes of course the problems are more serious and then laura and phil get shown for who they really are: hacks with a talent for scolding.

Jesus Dr. Laura argued against points that she didn't even allow her caller to make. The caller would get five words out before Dr. Laura interrupted to say "RONG".

I wish people would also get that just because people of the affected race say the n-word doesn't mean A. EVERYONE says it, B. That it is ok for everyone to say. I know Irish people who call themselves "micks" but if I called them one, I wouldn't whine when I got my teeth knocked out.
