Does anyone Fancy A Pint NEXT week (Tuesday 30th or Wednesday 31st)in town?

I realize that a) this is ages away (but I can't make this week) and b) I have no right to ask not being on the FAP steering committee nor nuffink, guv.

Dr. C, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

See this is better for me as it's after pay day (not that I'm countng the hours or anything).

Anna, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

a) that's a good thing b) of course you do. is better and will keep it in mind -- don't think i am committed to anything on those days. (tho rings a bell, and don't know why)

Alan T, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

tuesday the 30th! i was thinking about one next week as well...

gareth, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*thread hijak*

Dr C, how was Estonia?

Anna, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Fair enough - venue = NOT the Glasshouse Stores!

Sarah, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yes. (especially as I AM BARRED) I'm not, but it sounds good, and i did attempt to be.

Alan T, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll come (combine it with Graham' FAP and tell Nicole)...Central London? (I hope).

jel --, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the enterprise, chalk farm?

gareth, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hahahah get lost, since when has Chalk Farm been 'central'! You'll be suggesting the Devonshire Arms next (HEH HEH COME TO THE GOTHS, COME TO THE GOTHS, CIDERS THERE)

Sarah, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

though camden is relatively good for me for travel, i did discover a week or so ago that it is packed with cockfarmers. (actually the enterprise was OK last time i saw.)

Alan T, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not bloody Chalk Farm!! Let's make it central!

Anna - Estonia - I did sort of report back but I can't remember which thread it was on. Could have been one of the Trig Bruv ones. Tallinn was utterly fantastic - great clubs, cheap grog etc etc. And you were right about the Russian models etc. Oh God yes! I *think* we went to the Club Hollywood on the second night, after being barred from Club Venus for stealing a champagne bucket (so they said). Club Venus was ace - latest bootlegs, cheesy house an' ting. Spent a lot of time in bars in the beautiful old town square. Friday to Monday was too long for the drinking regimen that was forced upon us by the *tour committee* (brutes) and our sporting endeavours would have made a dog laugh. We never did get to the beach.

Dr. C, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And my black eye has almost gone.

Dr. C, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

as far as i am concerned i shall see what is happening, there are "things" going "down" that may prevent me from being all that sociable over the next few weeks to be honest.

katie, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I was told about Venus, but wasn't there long enough to go. Glad you had a good time.

Back to London: Not Chalk Farm, please.

Anna, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm probably on for this - and count this as another vote against Chalk Farm. It doesn't count as central unless it's within the Circle Line. And I'm not entirely happy with the westernmost bit of that, either, to be honest.

Martin Skidmore, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ok, so no one wants chalk farm. sheesh, what do you people waaant from me. lets just have a soho/fitrovia place, but somewhere new?

gareth, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So that whole ILE/ILM mafia thing is a myth is it?

You chummy, web-literate bastards - don't you know what email is for?

Chris Sallis, Monday, 22 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am saddened. 17 posts and none about masturbation yet! Where's Mr. Perry?

Vinnie, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

He's having a wank.

How about The Bricklayers Arms off Tottenham Court Road (just round from Stephen Street by the BFI and quite fiddly to find). Upstairs, Sofas - oooh.

Pete, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, Bricklayers - what day?

Tom, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Chewsday?

Dr. C, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pete! We thought you had been taken prisoner by the Faerie Queen for dancing the wrong way around her ring of mushrooms (or something).

You owe me money.

Emma, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

blimey the wanderer returns. next week in the bricklayers sounds good :) it's not that tricky to find, i managed it.

CarsmileSteve, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You know, some of you lot could make juvenile scat jokes* and lighten my load a bit. Wankers.**

* "... and she said, "Skeet bop a doo- wop twee diddley do-BOW!" and shat herself."

** See what I did there? SEE?

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This reminds me of a couple of extra features graham could add to nuILX, viz a bonus auto posting "And then they lez up" at the appropriate point, and also add "(wanker)" at the end of (say) every 20th post.

Alan T, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am so not letting you near the ILX source code.

I will doubtless be there, though I might even have JOB by then and be late.

Graham, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can be there by about 5.05, since I work VERY near. That is if someone tells me exactly where it is.

Martin Skidmore, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan's amendments are highly neccessary.

Tom, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I agree with Tom.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Done.

Graham, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll take it down once real physical punches are thrown.

Graham, Tuesday, 23 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There you go Martin, or anyone else who doesn't know where it is :)

CarsmileSteve, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

is Nichole Britburd coming then? (and good luck with the JOBBE grrraham!)

katie, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

HOW COME I HAVE NEVER SEEN FANCYAPINT.COM BEFORE???? it is bluddy brilliant. pubs near the barbican tube...

Alan T, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

where have you BEEN alang, too busy playing with pictures of kittens i'll wager. I just met Nichole and she said she was coming along on tuesday, which is nice :)

CarsmileSteve, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, I just gave her the address as she left my office. Now she is after YOU!!!

Pete, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hurrah! You will all soon know the Nichole and her exquisite goodness. :-)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*sigh* there is no fancyakitten.com

jel --, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks for the pointer, Steve. Can we always have FAPs within 500 yards of my workplace, please? I think it's only reasonable, as I am old and therefore should not have to walk as far as everyone else. It should be a rule.

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

fancyakitten.com should be the URL for nu-ILX.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 24 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

so does one of us own this already? (watch out for the nasty pop-ups if you click)

CarsmileSteve, Thursday, 25 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Just putting this up in the new answers as a reminder.

Reeling from a weekend spent perfecting my own particular brand of abstemiousness. See some of you tomorrow?

Tim, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm finally back from my month away from london, so i'll be there.

toby, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tuesday or Wednesday? (Have we said up thread?)

Anna, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tuesday.

Tom, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Good-o.

Anna, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Most likely to be upstairs. Downstairs is teeny.

Pete, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not quite sure why we've forgiven the Bricklayers after the Radiohead Outrage and the No Vodka Outrage and the Hair Book Outrage, mind you.

Tom, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

because of num num num BITTER tom!!

katie, Monday, 29 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Bricklayer's on Gresse, behind the British Film Institute, is closed and covered with scaffolding. It ain't reopening today. If anyone could ring with a new pub, I'm 07xxx 3xxxxx - and try to contact others. I don't have Pete's or Tom's numbers, to mention two who are coming early.

Martin Skidmore, Tuesday, 30 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There's the other Bricklayers just round the corner, try there perhaps? Yikes! Pete and Tom don't have mobiles - uncontactable!

Sarah, Tuesday, 30 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Disaster! Its the Fitzroy Tavern instead then, just round the corner on Charlotte Street (see Fancy A Pint).

Pete, Tuesday, 30 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Suggest people have a wander round the nearby boozers where no doubt we'll gather... there are 2 or 3 on Rathbone Place I think but I've no idea how acceptable any of them will be. If we get settled somewhere and I can work it out I'll try to leave some sort of little sign indicating where we are on or near the Brickies.

Tim, Tuesday, 30 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ye Fitzroye seems like a good enough bet to me... see you there then?

Sarah, Tuesday, 30 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Martin S, you're bloody mad putting yr phone no. on this (or any other) page.

Andrew L, Tuesday, 30 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

goldfinger, he's the man, the man with the golden finger...

CarsmileSteve, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Look some little elf has x'd out Martin's phone no.!

Did y'all have a good time. I went to bed at eleven, but the people next door were still talking in Czech til 2am! :(

jel --, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it was

GREBT!

especially ptee's serenading skillz, which have come along remarkably since last week, heheh ;)

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No-one as of yet has mentioned the fact that we went to the Spanish Bar. And for some reason I only have a vague headache, despite ingesting ridiculous amounts of the demon bouze. I see Ktees grebt and raise it a roxx0r!!

Sarah, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

grrr when i got home i had left my sitting room window open and it had rained on my tv!!

mark s, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

BLIMEY you went on to the Spanish Bar afterwards!?!? just as well i left when i did, otherwise there would have been HANDY ERROR.

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Has anyone survived the Spanish Bar? The damn cashpoint that I went to wasn't working, so rather than wander about trying to find another I hit the tube. Hope no-one hung around waiting for me to come back - if so, sorry!

Anyway, a fantastic night! Mark S, Tom, Pete, Starry, Anna, Graham, Martin, Ricky T, Steve, Katie, Tim, Nichole, Alix, Toby - you all ROCK!!!

Did I forget anyone?

Dr. C, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Spanish bar = wee bull = pure evil = MY LIFE IS A RUIN!

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what time did you get in, Rick? (i noticed the kitchen was in a STATE this morning and thought hehe, drunken cooking alert! ;))

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Did I cook stuff? Oh dear. I really don't remember that. I remember cursing the gods of fast food restaurants cos none of their establishments were open and thinking it would be a really good idea to cook something when I got in. I didn't think I actually did though. Christ, I'm a mess.

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Got in about 2, IIRC (which I probably don't)

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I must admit the chances of finding us trying to work out what the best Andrew Lloyd Webber song via the medium of voice was not what I expected to be doing at 2 in the morning. But since it was mainly my fault...

Dr C - we worked out you problem but I think most people will thank you for the opportunity to hang around on Oxford Street, it provided some entertainment apparently (I don't know, I was already in the Spanish Bar).

Rick - how's your arse?

Pete, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Rick - how's your arse?

Now I'm really worried

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't you have kebab shops in Shepherd's Bush? Better than drunken cooking. I had a kebab courtesy of the Twickenham charcoal grill and watched a weightlifting contest from the C/wealth games on the telly in which no-one seemingly managed a succesful lift!

Dr. C, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And you left EARLY!

Even the chicken shops were closed, to our geat chagrin, so I cooked super noodles. Lixi offered to buy them from me. I told her in no uncertain terms to bog off and praised the lord of super noodles. Hot balti flavour my arse though, they were just covered in a mild goo. And the leftovers were just as nice this morning. Mmmmm. I knew I was too ruined to make anything else. Mmmmm soooper noodles.

Sarah, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Do kebab shops stay open in the Bush til 2 in the morning though on a Tuesday? I am feeling generally rather dislocated at the moment.

Pete, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They do, Dr C, but they were all shut by the time I got in. I was in such a bad state the cab driver advised me to drink lots of water before I went to bed.

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(this will not absolve you from cleaning the kitchen Rick *evil cackles*) god Sarah i REALLY want super noodles now. just when i thought i'd kicked the habit (they make me REALLY GRUMPY with their additive-enhanced ways)

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

rainy where's that dunedin FAP thread? c'mon let's make this happen!

unknown or illegal user, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Super Noodles - so wicked but YET SO GOOD (in moderation)! Whenever I do a big supermarket shop it is now traditional for me to buy a pack of super noodles, which I keep for times such as last night - there are moments when only gooey, ur, goo will do...

Sarah, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Just one pack Sarah?

I kind of had to run off to catch a train so I missed Spanish bar action (though I probably could have stayed if it had been brought up before I left), and I feel rough enough as it is (and I was on Cola for a lot of the evening). Thanks to everyone I spoke to.

Graham, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I was on Cola for a lot of the evening

yes, with RHUM in it! you can't fool us ect...

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

my head HURTS!

gareth, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, mine too. Just as well I was off to the hospital this morning anyway. That Spanish bar is a place of significant danger.

Apologies to anyone who had to endure my life's ongoing ruination. Apologies also to Graham because I was rude. Sorry Graham.

Tim, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

life's ongoing ruination

i dunno tim, i reckon you have a GRATE singing career ahead of you, along with Ptee hahaha! :):):)

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*sob*

Tim, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There was SINGING? Was I involved? Oh the horror.

RickyT, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

do you not remember the chorus of "please don't go" which rather touchingly accompanied my leaving the pub early to go back to boyfwiend? no thankfully RickyT you were not involved in this. you guys are sooo sweeeet when you're pissed!! (which is more than you can say for me haha)

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

there was an attempt to make me sing something, suede i believe, but it might have been something else. i didn't do it

gareth, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hopkins does indeed have a great singing career ahead of him. And a decent one behind him.

the pinefox, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"early" Katie. ha ha.

Graham, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

blimey graham, i left before last orders! (10.45pm) what other definition of leaving early is there?

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Didn't you say you were meant to be home by then though?

Graham, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah but i was only a bit late and i phoned from the station so it was OK.

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Good to hear.

Graham, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Felt sober all the way home and fine this morning. I didn't have a lot to drink, but I was still quite surprised.

Anna, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, to have been there. This sounds suitably enjoyable.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Your hair was mentioned, Ned, if that's any consolation.

Dr. C, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, nichole and i were talking about what a big hippy you are ned! (hehehehhehe NOT REALLY! :):))

katie, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned is not a hippy. Ned is a HAPPY.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Your hair was mentioned, Ned, if that's any consolation.

All is well.

yeah, nichole and i were talking about what a big hippy you are ned! (hehehehhehe NOT REALLY! :):))

ACK!

Ned is not a hippy. Ned is a HAPPY.

Dan shows wisdom and grace. *bounces away merrily*

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks to whichever of our administrators removed my phone number. I guess it was silly, but who really cares anyway? No one has abused it so far.

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 31 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

five years pass...
