I Love Television: Best Looking Show Out of This 2010 TV Preview?

I would rank them as follows in terms of my interest level:

Boardwalk Empire (HBO)
Running Wilde (FOX)
The Walking Dead (AMC)
Terriers (FX)
No Ordinary Family (ABC)
The Event (NBC)

But I'd add Game of Thrones if that counts.

Oh yeah, I wonder why they didn't mention Game of Thrones. I'm interested in that.

Lone Star (FOX) looks interesting too.

Considering how solid NBC Thursday night lineups have been (even shows with shaky starts, like P&R) maybe Outsourced won't be terrible.

The show that's 24 crossed with Lost should win the fight against the show that's Heroes crossed with Lost.

I am just bummed because I know that "Chase" and "Undercovers" will both be terrible and yet they will pander to me so well that I will watch them anyway and get totally invested in them and then get frustrated when they are canceled after 3 episodes.

Is it criminal that I thought the youtube preview for Defenders didn't look terrible? Maybe I just have stockholm syndrome from years of watching syndicated According to Jim

I'm totally watching 'the Event', just the kind of nonsense I love. Mind you I thought that about FlashForward too, which was shockingly bad.

I liked FlashForward! I will need to google some of these things to find a new show to get into (and I will obviously pick the wrong one, which will get cancelled after 4 episodes)

I liked Flash Forward until things started getting elaborated upon, and the "answers" were completely unsatisfactory. So, like, the first two episodes.

Mostly just looking forward to Ride-Along, but that's mid-season.

Undercovers kind of reminds me of Alias, and since the first two seasons of Alias is my all-time favorite I am looking forward to this.

However, I voted for Boardwalk Empire due to the Buscemi. Definitely give Detroit 187 a try though as I know it has given a few friends and acquaintances employment.

Since moving here I don't have a TV so rely on Hulu or streaming or DVDs... it stops me from watching a lot of crap I'd otherwise just have on in the background, but also means I can miss out on something awesome. So I rely on you guys! Over the past year or so I've caught up (almost) on 24, Damages, the Wire, Dexter (just waiting for the last season) and next up I've got Breaking Bad and Big Love - someone gave me the box set so I'm getting into it even if it's not the kind of thing I'd normally bother with. Didn't see Happytown and have yet to get into the Sopranos, West Wing, that thing with Lovejoy, or Mad Men, which I started watching but couldn't get into.

I'm also keeping up with UK comedy stuff from back home and keeping an eye out for any decent US sitcoms.

Zombies + AMC = :)

Eh. I have a tough time buying Andrew Lincoln as a badass zombie-killer. I could be totally wrong, though.

I mean the waking up from a coma in a hospital oblivious to the outbreak part. Seems like a pretty direct rip to me.

that does sound kinda direct re: coma specific but 90% of zombie flicks revolve around the sudden realization of OH SHIT ZOMBIES so im willing to give it a pass.

Arnett's Running Wilde looks like a milky version of de Rossi's character from Better Off Ted. Too bad that's not coming back instead.

Wilde seems prety much Arnett's usual thing, wich doesn't mean it can't be fantastic. I'm only worried about having to see Felicity doing comedy, maybe if they can find a way to keep her off the screen.

Even without the Walker Brothers this would be a fantastic trailer, but it made it about 10,000 times more awesome that it otherwise would have been.

why so many cops & lawyers shows? is it that there's something especially resonant now about these fantasies of justice or is it just ratings-grubbing?

uh, watch TV much? procedurals will never die. although there might be more new ones than usual since there isn't one big dominant lawyer show at the moment and the big franchises (L&O, CSI) are getting pretty old.

They are making a huge push for this Will Arnett show. Two leads are on the Emmys right now. Arnett being all sweaty + gross + hilarious.

Running Wilde sounds good on paper since it reunites a few of the people from Arrested Development, but the trailers that I've seen don't have the seem vibe that I used to get from watching Arrested Development. The quirkiness seems a little more forced and strained, and Will Arnett's character seems like an even less likable version of the character that he played on Arrested Development. Hopefully, the full episodes play out better than the trailers that I've seen so far.
