Good idea to start this poll the week that all British people are away on holiday, right?

Tempted to vote Scotland - but I've hardly been there. I've been to the others. Northern Ireland was quite nice, but I went to Bangor which is fairly suburban. Wales is pretty. But yeah, for all the good it's done me I plumped for the devil I know.

If you're implying that I'm old enough to have grandparents who emigrated during the 18th Century, instead of, as actually happened, after WWII (and, having served in Africa, suddenly realising that there were countries where it didn't rain 300 days a year and snow on the other 65) then I am actually going to slap you.

it's too small and concise. is the problem. nowadays if it's not a multi-thread, multi-poll, multi-group tournament mega poll it doesn't run. maybe one for every single county in the UK would work.

Voted NI but I'm aware I haven't seen much of Wales or Scotland.

There are lots of things I quite like about England but the history of English patriotism makes it pretty hard to stomach voting for, if you like it so much you why don't you go to the nearest pub with a giant St George's flag outside and chat about the latest Daily Mail outrage to people in England shirts with England tattoos

though since Londoners are already disgusted at the terrible provincials their wonderful city is lumped in with in the other 98% of the country (OK, 84% by population), maybe I should pretend those people definitely don't exist and it's really brilliant here

Wales has some nice bits in it, so does England. I'm sure Northern Ireland does too, but I've never been. But I like it here, so Scotland wins for having some nice bits I don't have to travel very far to see. Also responsible for that Scottish things and people that I like thread, which was great.

tempted now to attempt to create a deliberately unpopular poll and see if it gets more votes than those

but I suppose "vote for your favourite component off this list of obscure cogs and sprockets I found on the web" would get some lol-votes, so the only real bomb of a poll I can think of would be of e.g. the 2 CD-Rs released by some defunct unsigned local act in a genre ILX doesn't like, and there isn't really any flair to that

(which the two on this thread definitely have in my book)

Just be contrarian, I'll vote England. N Yorks moors, the Lake Country, Devon, London, white cliffs, recent barge trip up the Thames, easiest access to France...
