i'm really fascinated by that period of sesame street in the '70s when they seemed to collaborate with lots of avant-garde artists/musicians (stan van der beek, philip glass, joan la barbara, etc) - feel like there should be a separate thread for these

the music on that sesame street "milk" clip is phenomenal. there's an interview with the composer online somewhere.

PS some of the 70s and early 80s computer graphics ones may have been put together on a rather neat machine called a Scanimate, an analogue computer (yes, analogue) dedicated to graphics manipulation.

Oh, that's come out corrupted for me. It should be 35 seconds long, not 6. Weird.

Anyway, I found it while looking for something else on youtube and posted it because the eerie not-quite-resolving nature of the music seems kind of incongruous to me. But, it broke.

Until the logo appears it's like the intro to an animated Russian fairy tale (about a firebird, probably).

Huh, youtube is full of people doing "youtube poop" versions of BBC idents. They're mostly not very good, so I won't embed any. One plays one at half speed, though, and I'm thinking how much I'd like one to get a full-on 35-minute Justin Bieber-ing.

Something I find really creepy about the sluggishness the circle rotates at; it somehow reminds me of a recurring nightmare I had as a small child but could never actually remember the content of.
