Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I know Mike, I could now easily buy that bloody Playmobil pirate ship that was my childhood's obsession. Shit, I could buy an armada of Playmobil ships :) Nowadays some Prada or Helmut Lang boutique or maybe really go all out on the retro footie-shirt front at Toffs.

Omar, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Selfridges Food Hall, mmmmmmmmmmm.

Emma, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

DAmmit! All esoteric English refrences drive me mad!

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Shit. I wanted the Toys R Us shopping spree last year!

Other good places: Electronics Boutique, Circuit City, Cambridge Sound Works, Best Buy, Sears, Home Depot (amazing how owning a home will skew your interests), BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Urban Outfitters, Micro Center, Wilson's Leather, Nordstrom.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Andy's on Denmark St. Mmmmmmmmmmm...

Kate the Saint, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Selfridges is not esoteric it is an exceptionally famous posh department store with a truly smashing food hall.

Emma, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I would like to have a shoppin g spree in The Goldenrod, York Beach

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

H&M.

Ally, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ally, I am disappointed. Think big girl! I could have a spending spree in H&M next to my office with a tenner and still have change for a pint.

Emma, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Any Japanese toy shop, or an American Toys or Us or Forbidden Planet! I want the new Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime Toys!

jel, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Which is why I want a shopping spree there. You get much much more stuff for the money. I'm assuming the shopping spree would be set up like normal shopping sprees in which you have a spending limit...

But if we're talking some sort of fantastical godly shopping spree with no monetary limit, then I'll pick Saks. Straight to the designer floor, then to the fur coats, and then to the makeup. Then I will go to the shoes. Oh yes, the shoes are always last, because they are most important.

Can I also throw in a quick stop at Tiffany's? I've decided it's time for me to get married, to someone, anyone, and I need an engagement ring.

Ally, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

there is a new optimu sprime? where?

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Here Mike... OPTIMUS

jel, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Those new Transformers are *rubbish*! Though the hilarity that there's one called 'Slapper' is almost too much to bear.

Paul Strange, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

cool! thanks!

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sothebys and NYC thrift stores.

anthony, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Thinking big: were it poss, real estate section of newspaper. Failing that, car yard w/ Ferraris & Diablos & stuff (tho insurance would cripple me). Failing that, big home appliance store for flatscreen TV, G4, & all kinds of electronic finery I don't need &'ll [prolly] never use. Failing that, I need pants.

AP, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Paul, I have to disagree, those are the coolest transformers in ages, and don't forget one of the dinobots was called slag!...Web Divers look pretty cool too!

jel, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ebay, savior of antiquie transformers

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

REI would be nice.

Cryosmurf, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Either Wal-Mart or the Home Depot.

Kris, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Keni Valenti's store/site for vintage clothes. Maybe that French department store Colette too, so I'd get a trip into the bargain.

Lesley Higgins, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Can I also add Pottery Barn to my list?

Ally, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

no, you may not

Mike Hanle y, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

How about Ikea?

Ally, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Pop's Popular Clothing in Greenpoint... mmm... I know, I shd be thinking Barney's. But Barney's doesn't sell racks upon racks of Dickies and workshirts... mmm...

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Sony store....mmmm. I am a geek.

bnw, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Another good bet would be at the town dump...wait, GASRBAGE IS FREE! YAY! OUR DEAMS CAME TRUE!

Mike Hanley, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Perhaps I am mad out of it, but did anybody mention a RECORD SHOP?!?

Failing that, a liquor store :)

Dave M., Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The Sweet Factory. Any good candy store. Hershey's Park. Wherever they make Godiva chocolates.

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

We once did a shopping spree in a Toys R Us shop (Houston). Sadly it wasn't for me but the kid of our billionaire friends. Bastards. I did get a Barbie car.

nathalie (nathalie), Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If it had to be local, then HMV, otherwise all the record shops down Berwick Street.

DG, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Harvey Nichols, because of sale of clothing, furniture, compustuff and seriously gourmet food. Actually prefer it to Selfridge's.

Sans computers, it would have to be Muji, but over the course of a whole year as their stuff fluctuates in choice and coolness. And the stationery ROCKS.

If I had to prioritise I'd have to say Heals or SCP the furniture store, as am in serious need of better furniture. If I edited the stuff I have I'd be left with shelves, my Op Art nightstand (recent skip diving trophy item), red dresser and ace kitchen table from '50s. Also I like Red Stuff so Habitat is looking pretty good for that just now - great cushions.

suzy, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think a spending spree in a record shop is a too regular occurance for some of us! :)
