Sky News has a barely subtle "4 of 33 MINERS RESCUED" graphic in the top-left of the screen.

Sky News, as always is unbearable. Constant wittering on intersparsed with DIRE WARNINGS of PROBLEMS AHEAD. What if the cable snaps? What if the cage buckles? What if my microphone breaks down and you won't be able to hear my incisive commentary?

Kudos to the rescue bloke who went down in the cage first. I freak out if a lift takes too long opening the doors.

i also loved how cnn's reporter there was 300 yards away w/ no monitors so he had no idea what was going on and said as much when they went to him after the second miner came up -- i think he did say that they were soaking it in tho

i can't help but feel like this is a missed opportunity of sorts -- think of all the shit they could've done -- i know a lot of them have wives and stuff but they could've had like 3 strippers poles right in front of the capsule or, like, they could've had a huge prize wheel that they got to spin w/ dope shit like trips to hawaii and cars and crap idk -- i mean i know getting out of the earth after being inside of it for 2 months is prize enough, but idk

Thinking the Chilean Pres has got a bit of a look of "Jeez we've got another 30-odd hours to go here maybe when can I sneak off?" already. Hoping the Hollywood movie is called Men in Vests and they give these guys at least a million dollars each for the rights to the story.

A man spends 70 days trapped in a cave thousands of feet below ground I figure he shd be entitled to dine off it for the rest of his life.

Heh, as someone who has visited a tourist mine for 90 minutes once, I think I know how these gentlemen are feeling right now.

This story - especially the media circus aspect of it - is eerily reminiscent of a terrific Billy Wilder movie called "Ace in the Hole" starring Kirk Douglas as a lazy malcontent reporter who plays with people's lives to keep his exclusive going.

Miners had to describe their physical and mental health in detail with teams of doctors and psychologists. In some cases, when both wives and lovers claimed the same man, everyone involved had to face the consequences.

Number 21: Yonni Barios is the dude with the wife and girlfriend. He's getting out in about 30 minutes.

His wife will say, "he's MINE!" and the girlfriend will say "no, he's MINE!!" and then he will come out and say "ladies please can we not talk about MINES?!?!?!?" ;-)

so in about 25 minutes we get to see what happens when a dude recently released from being trapped in a mine for 10 weeks gets punched in the nuts

Before the mine collapsed, the men were earning around £417 a month. But now, they will almost certainly never need to work again.

They have a multi-million pound movie and publishing deals on the table.

The 33 men have also been promised a free week-long vacation in the Greek islands, and have been given £6,200 each by a mining magnate as a gift.

The scene where the miners come to the surface would have to be in slow motion to emphasise the high emotion of the moment. Which would result in it taking even longer than it did in reality.
