When O’Brien’s show was still located in New York, Weinberg would send interns to do gardening work at his house on the New Jersey shore, and would involve staffers in his pay disputes with the network — at one point, even enlisting an intern to tabulate every minute of screen time Weinberg had racked up over two years in an argument for a salary raise. Though several members of Weinberg’s band will be joining O’Brien during his live summer tour, Weinberg himself is conspicuously absent from the list.

When asked to address the matter, an NBC spokeswoman said only, “We are not commenting.” Reps for Leno and Weinberg have yet to get back to us.

I could be totally wrong, but it feels like Conan has realized he's paid his dues and now it's his right to just go batshit on tv for an hour four nights a week. At least I hope so. The more absurd and self-aware this show is, the better.

Conan O’Brien will begin his run on TBS with some of the biggest names in entertainment and music beginning Monday, Nov. 8, at 11 p.m. (ET/PT). The premiere night of Conan from Stage 15 at Warner Bros. Studios will feature Seth Rogen and a musical performance from Jack White.

The rest of Conan’s premiere week will feature a lineup of special guests, rare performances and longtime friends of O’Brien:

O'Brien's Late Night was rushed into production and debuted on September 13, 1993, with Andy Richter as O'Brien's sidekick. The premiere episode featured John Goodman (who received a "First Guest" medal for his appearance), Drew Barrymore, and Tony Randall.

i know. i just will feel badly to see his rating lag so far behind leno (and letterman), especially considering the good vibe he had when exiting the tonight show. the TBS show feels like a momentum-killer (tho maybe the time off, and conan's overuse of the tonight show debacle, is a momentum-killer, too).

i think it will be great just BECAUSE he moved to TBS = (more balls).

the other day i was arguing on twitter with this guy who was SO sure that the whole Daily Show/Colbert rally was done entirely as a way to shore up support and get attention because they're worried about competing with Conan, which seemed like a bizarre theory to me.

I can't stress enough how important it is that Andy Richter is back on the couch. That was always the weirdest part about them on The Tonight Show. Andy just stood behind his podium all night.

i saw conan in person the other day! almost got to meet/work with him for a few minutes but his schedule was tight so that didn't happen :(

He's one of the scariest celebrities I've ever seen in person.

i watched his tour documentary recently. is there a thread about it? he's a huge asshole in the way that you would expect out of a guy who's run his own late night show for 20+ years, but super funny too

Someone who was working on the Tonight Show at the time told me that Conan and his crew were anxious about the Tonight Show ratings from the get-go. There was a fear that the show had a ratings problem much earlier than was reported.

I like the scene in the Conan documentary where Conan realizes that life "on the road" is both difficult and addicting -- and that there will be strangers who want to meet him every night backstage after the show and that surprises and bothers him.

This has to be a really long set-up for a big bit, right?

Considering I've been abroad from the US for 10 years and haven't been able to consume much of the TBS show aside from online clips, I've been weirdly melancholy all day thinking about Conan leaving the weeknight format.

He's really tearing up the promo circuit for this new travel show. I watched his Paley Center talk with Jake Tapper tonight streaming live and his visit to Jimmy Fallon earlier in the week.

The on-paper concept of Hot Ones seems dumb as hell, but it’s kind of a brilliant idea imo. Disarms and humanizes the interviewee. Reveals elements of their personality you wouldn’t typically see. And it gets there in a playful, harmless way.

Host is a legitimately good interviewer too. Stays out of the way and usually asks interesting questions.

Quite the “hot” take. He seems a little vanilla personality wise maybe, but he’s a fucking great interviewer. Don’t think I’d ever call him annoying.

I def had the “I don’t care for this type of dude” vibe for the host when I first encountered the show. Quickly warmed to him though. He’s great at his job. Very ego-less and minimal.

He’ll occasionally drop some Nardwuar level deep pull questions on guests. They definitely do their research.

seeing a bunch of Conan clips floating around now and I really do miss him. I wish we still had a late night host who was just a silly guy. Jimmy Fallon tries but he's so bad at it. Kimmel has a good writing staff but Colbert is just terrible and it's frustrating because he's still very funny when he doesn't talk politics
