Human Rights Campaign: Name reasons why it is so bad and hated

I keep hearing gay/allied people shit all over HRC. I know nothing about them really other than they seem to promote tolerance/acceptance, but clearly they are doing something wrong. I'm interested to know what. These $3 bracelets sort of tipped me off:

My cousin has started an internship position with them. Don't know why they're so bad and hated though.

While I'm not, like Andrew Sullivan, ready to declare jihad, at worst they're quislings who've endorsed the direst aspects of Clinton-era policies. That $3 bracelet is heinous as product and concept.

Yeah, I've definitely heard shit about HRC from a gay person that I know, but the reason they gave wasn't very specific - just that there were other orgs who are more effective at having a directly positive effect on gay people. I have donated to them though.

I mean it does make me smile when business establishments have a blue-and-red [=] on their door. To me it says "we down wit u"
