Could be dust mites, but you might want to get tested to try and pinpoint it.

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 14:43 (fifteen years ago)

dayo, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 14:47 (fifteen years ago)

Hey I've had EXACTLY this over the last 2-3 weeks. Very miserable cos of it. I wondered if it was something to do with our heating or something. Sloc, where are you based?

Couldn't be further away. I'm sort of allergic to house dust, but not usually this bad and it kind of happened out the blue. This sucks.

village idiot (dog latin), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 14:55 (fifteen years ago)

what are we going to do!

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 14:57 (fifteen years ago)

one possibility is fungus/mold in your HVAC

had this last year when I was staying for a month in a guesthouse with a questionable AC unit

cleared up when I moved into a new flat w/ a new AC unit

dayo, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:01 (fifteen years ago)

i dont have an AC

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:03 (fifteen years ago)

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:03 (fifteen years ago)

a HOUSE

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

Don't have a need for AC where I live, so that's not it. We do have a walk-in shower direct from our bedroom though??

village idiot (dog latin), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

(i had a weird thing last week where i put on a sweater i haven't worn since the spring, and immediately started sneezing, eyes watering, the whole deal, so i took it off and resolved to take it to the cleaners. no idea what's on it, but it's been in a box for about 3 months so probably some kind of mold or mites or something)

a tenth level which features a single castle (tipsy mothra), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

mold/fungus can grow in places that are not an AC unit

dayo, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:08 (fifteen years ago)

for example somewhere moldy

dayo, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:08 (fifteen years ago)

i know a guy who bought himself a cheap-ass house in a dubious neighborhood, and only discovered about 6 months later that it's full of mold. the walls probably all need to be ripped out and replaced, but he can't afford to do it.

so he just tries not to spend too much time at home, i think...

i woke up this morning and i was like maybe i should sleep on the couch :( :( :(

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:12 (fifteen years ago)

Because our shower, you literally walk into it directly from the bathroom... so I have a feeling condensation has been building up on the wall running immediately fromt he shower and creating mildew. It's a stupid place to have a shower to be honest. I'll try cleaning it. How do you clean mildew off of paint/wallpaper though?

village idiot (dog latin), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:14 (fifteen years ago)

i sleep in my shower btw

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 15:15 (fifteen years ago)

i have an unventilated shower/bathroom right next to my bedroom. i noticed that, especially on colder days, the vapor was all condensing in the bedroom and making the bed clammy. so i bought a little dehumidifier that i run after taking a bath or shower, seems to be working.

pro tip, you can lick the mildew off paint/wallpaper if you have willy wonka wallpaper #chocolatefactory

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 20:16 (fifteen years ago)

Dust, Tuesday, 9 November 2010 21:02 (fifteen years ago)

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

Has it recently gotten cold enough to start a heater at night? Maybe your sinuses are dried out from heat/dry air.

Unfrozen Caveman Board-Lawyer (WmC), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

it has. i wonder if that could be it though, as its triggering my asthma too.

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Tuesday, 9 November 2010 21:23 (fifteen years ago)

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 00:00 (fifteen years ago)

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 03:22 (fifteen years ago)

ok so i dont know if it was airing out my room, washing my duvet (the thing itself, not the cover, which i rarely do and which was probably pretty mite-y), or squirting salt up my nose, but i definitely had a better night :D !

irritable bol syndrome (s1ocki), Wednesday, 10 November 2010 14:00 (fifteen years ago)

I washed my pillows, but because I don't have a tumble dryer they now smell of damp which isn't helping anything :-( #idiotthinkthingsthroughnexttime
