skyline looks pretty awful, the other two look generic but w/e, maybe they'll be fun. monsters looks a little better than battle la, maybe?

don't forget the upcoming "Battleship" adaptation, which is also being made as an alien invasion flick!

Skyline only cost $10 million! They're also being sued because the directors (The Brothers Strause!!!) were hired by the Battle: Los Angeles studio to do its effects of aliens attacking LA.

I wonder if this means the inevitable "Space Invaders" movie will be a naval warfare yarn?

for some reason these movies all kinda seem a little bit thin, like calling card type films you see on the internet.

I like to think that somebody caught the end of Independence Day on FX one afternoon and a light bulb went off.

so apparently skyline is pretty hilarious, and after hearing about the batshit ending, i'm intrigued. will rent!

always be wary when the directors are also the special effects guys

haha remember f/x
Not sure if these guys were from space or not but giant bugs from space are really popular as choices for SyFy original features. This one, however, features the shamefully underrated comedic stylings of David Arquette:

disappointed skyline wasn't about a heroic sentient japanese sports car

Seen the trailer for Skyline, relieved that it's cool to have movies where jumbo jets smash into buildings again.

Monsters looks pretty intriguing. What's interesting is how many of these were made on the cheap, aside from Battle LA. Monsters was made for 15 thousand, Skyline had a 6 figure budget at best (nowhere close to $1 million, let alone $10 mil), District 9 ran a little pricier but still looked a lot better than you'd expect from a $25-30 million production.
I've already had the batshit insane ending of Skyline spoiled for me, but I can't imagine wanting to sit through the rest of the movie just for that. I'm sure the crazy parts will be on youtube eventually.

The trailer for Monsters looks - vaguely - interesting. The other one looks a bit generic.

The effects in "Skyline" look pretty 2nd rate on the trailers I just watched.

my favorite movie that looks like it was made in the 00s for less than 6 figures

Monsters is ok but has a lot of indie movie setbacks
