moggieboy, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

since it mentions freaky trigger i'm guessing may-b? greenspun is not so nice a mention may-b.

junichiro, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It was only registered July 25th, so DG can sue the bastard for all he's worth. Anyway, I've just invited him here, and I'm gonna look like a right arse if it is related somehow.

Graham, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

whoever designed the new greenspun siet is a bastard. i'ts mean 2 put others down.

junichiro, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

fuk anticarmody, i can't beleive he put me down 4 defending peeps. and then 2 put down prince! fukkking bastard. is it tom.

junichiro, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And his initials are DG. This sucks.

DG, Tuesday, 7 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What are you all on about??

If the person writing the weblog is reading this, please don't not write reviews because of a really overwritten Shangri-La's thing I did ages ago.

Who is 'anticarmody', junichiro! Can we have some blue letters here?

Tom, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If he has pinched the name it's damn cheeky. OK, so 'I Love Everything' isn't that imaginative, but, you know, to have a peek and then blatantly steal the name is damn rude. What I was referring to up there Tom was that his name appears to be David Gaston or something, so I don't want newcomers thinking he is DG who runs an inexplicably popular forum for such a small blog.

DG, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the anti carmody league. i've only linked to it for informational purposes (feel free to delete this post). obviously i have nothing to do with it. robin, if you see this site, i'd take it as a compliment.

gareth, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Pinching of name v. unlikely - as you say DG it isn't exactly unique. Hello mystery blogger and sorry for discussing you at such length.

Anti-Carmody League: good grief. I think the time has come to sort out the Heath Ledger question ONCE AND FOR ALL though.

Has anyone apart from me pretty much stopped reading all the weblogs they used to?

Tom, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

tom, what has anticarmody got to do with heath ledger? i'm confused.

i still read the same blogs as before, but i didn't read that many in the first place (about 6 or 7 - pretty much the ones on my links page) so its not that hard to still keep up

gareth, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

On the anticarmody site the description of RC is as somebody who has written mean things about Heath.

Tom, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But who is a) Heath Ledger, b) the Anti-Carmody?

DG, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

He ath Ledger

Richard Tunnicliffe, Wednesday, 8 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

and now there's i really love music!!!!

fascinating! and it seems everyone is getting internet stalkers and haters at the moment. i haven't got one yet though

gareth, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You can have mine. He's been sending me emails, cards and whatnot for the past couple of years.

nathalie (nathalie), Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

natalie, or anyone in fact

where do they come from? i guess they're pretty much anonymous, but those who have one, do you have any idea who they are, or is it a bolt from the blue?

gareth, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gareth, I don't want to go into overly personal details for fear that they will lure said stalker here, but my main one was someone who I encountered first on the internet, then we started dating IRL. The full on stalking didn't start until I dumped him for being a controlling, possessive asshole. So really, my internet stalker isn't any different from any other kind of stalker, he just uses the internet cause it's easier to track me, and probably cheaper considering he lives in another country.

Kate the Saint, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I hate cheapskate stalkers.

Nick, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

kate, i certainly don't blame you for not wanting to post in too much detail on this subject, i was just interested in general how people obtained these things. quite a few people here seem to have one (off top of head - kate, robin, nicole, natalie - probably more too). this is probably rather dodgy subject area, so feel free to delete

gareth, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Speaking of stalkers, has anyone checked "PF Sloane's" IP address?

Kate the Saint, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Aha! Just what I was wondering. His style does look *awfully* familiar, doesn't it? multiple short posts, and all. Have a read through thee "time lines of rock & roll" thread. Try to get to "www.air.co.uk". Hmmmmm....Mr Sinker, you're a moderator, aren't you? Any pointers there?

Norman Fay, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, jeez... just had a flip through. Like you couldn't spot that one a mile off? The moment he called music "soulless" - dead giveaway. Mark, your radar must be slipping!

Kate the Saint, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, I checked the pfs IP quite early on, and it's unique to him. This on its own means little: DP used several IPs in his time. Don't really see why there couldn't be a "type" draw and/or generated by our own communal identity specifics (ie photo- negative of our shared concerns): what makes me wonder if this is genuine resurgence is the extent of his solicitous concern for DP. Why wd the "type" care about others — however similar — when major characteristic is absolute seamless vanity?

mark s, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

that = hyper-poncey way of saying, Radar switched off after N.Southall debacle...

mark s, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The "anti carmody" site bothers me. It seems to me to be a bit more unpleasant & obsessive than is "proper". I also notice a thread there called "who's stalking kate the saint now" (or suchlike) That's a bit nasty. I wonder if anything can be done about it, other than flooding the threads w/other webpages, like happened on this board when it first started. I looked at the source code of the page with the graphic on it, and it led back here:

http://cabinessence.cream.org

I wonder if anyone has the kind of l33t skills that can trace who is responsible for this? I may be a bit paranoid, but between this, and the anti-sinker thread on that other board, it does seem like someone is spending more effort than is strictly necessary on attacking some of my favourite contributors. x0x0

Norman Fay, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, and read the threads on "I really love music". P.F.Sl04n3 clearly = d**mp*tr*l. I mean, it's plain to see.

What a div (sigh)

Norman Fay, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, it's small-minded and it generally sucks. But I think trying to disrupt it sucks as an idea too. In a way, Kate and Robin should be flattered that other people should be so interested in them. Let people be assholes if they do it elsewhere. God, that sounds like an anti-'not in my back yard' argument of the sort espoused by Momus for exactly the opposite ends. Funny thing, rhetoric.

Nick, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nick sez: But I think trying to disrupt it sucks as an idea too.

You are, of course, absolutely right, nick.

xoxo

Norman Fay, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, typical. I go over there to cause trouble and no-one else thinks it would be fun. Poo.

DG, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Posting when drunk = not a good idea. But (so far) the score w.goblins at issue = like 10- nil, or something. My feelings hurt = never once (odd momentary flame-up of irritation, sure, purged by return post); ditto doubtless without doubt the other way abt fer sure fer certain nerves of steel and such a sense o'proportion, the love. Plus — more to the point and this I *CAN* vouch for — genesis of at least three of my favourite (ands not even nasty) bits of writing these last three months. [x] = not my stalker, [x] = my MUSE!! Those with the gumption wd sue me for royalties. Someone told me on the bus just now that I was talking too loud and had a horrible voice, so anyone who wants can feel smug and vindicated abt that too!!

mark s, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hoorsy! Those monkeys at IRLM have got a DG: classic or dud thread!

DG, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Horsey?

Sterling Clover, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hooray! is what I meant. A typo.
