GREAT news

johnny crunch, Thursday, 23 December 2010 00:15 (fifteen years ago)

I was surprised to find out that Snooki is not Italian. Rather, she is of Chilean descent. Weird.

He started trademarking his catchphrases immediately, with an eye toward merchandising. His portfolio does not include "the Situation"—somebody beat him to that. But he does own "GTL," which began on the show as shorthand for "gym, tan, laundry," his daily routine, but has become a kind of all-purpose mantra for the Situation lifestyle, to the point that when the Situation met Leonardo DiCaprio at a club not long ago, the first thing DiCaprio said to him was "GTL all day, baby."

10 Things You Should Know About Jersey Shore’s Newbie Deena Cortese

1. Deena refers to herself as a “Bad Ass Brunette,” though Snooki refers to her as a “meatball.” Not sure which nickname is worse…

2. Speaking of nicknames, Deena’s castmates call her “The Holiday” because she’s like a “walking holiday.”

3. Deena’s a NJ native, unlike some of her Jersey Shore castmates. She grew up in New Egypt, NJ, and spent most of her summers down the shore. Good practice for the show, huh?

4. Yup, Deena went to college! She got her Dental Assistant license at Brookdale Community College.

5. Deena was on the cheerleading squad at Brookdale, and also played on a softball team and a dance team when she was younger.

6. Deena and Snooki have been friends for two years. The two Jersey girls met because Snooki used to date Deena’s friend. Why are we not surprised…

7. Before she joined the Jersey Shore cast, Deena was a waitress at Longhorn Steakhouse in New Jersey. Can we get a spray tan with that burger?

8. Deena’s favorite expression is “____ is like a party in your mouth” and she uses it all the time on Twitter.

9. Deena’s legal name is Deena Nicole Cortese, but she goes just by Deena Nicole on Facebook.

10. Deena’s favorite expression is “LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE” and she has it tattooed on the side of her body.

akm, Saturday, 8 January 2011 15:05 (fifteen years ago)

Sammi coming back to the show and cranking up her stone-cold-bitch to 11 from minute 1 for loldrama really spoils the lolreality of this show. Course leaving what all looked like their moms' houses and driving to the shore house in $70000 cars sorta does that too. So the show makes no sense (any more?) but it's gonna suck if it's all girlfights/drunk meatballs and very little MVP hijinx.

ditto

loved the first ep - so many amazing lines, many of which already mentioned upthread. LOVED Deena's "HELP ME FIND MY COWBOY HAT", she drags Mike all over the house, they end up in her bedroom (surprise), she puts on the then hat, THEN Mike says "OK let's find your cowboy hat" while sitting down on her bed. MEGALOLS at that. you could hear the air quotes - Let's "find your cowboy hat"...

also, the 'stick it in the jet holes' line is expertly followed immediately with a split-second shot of Vinny looking like he's doing just that...worth a rewind.

and I fully agree that Ronnie is dangerous, no brain/all temper...

http://dealbreaker.com/_old/images/thumbs/drudge_siren.gif'Jersey Shore' cast heads to Italyhttp://dealbreaker.com/_old/images/thumbs/drudge_siren.gif

-- How do you say "gym, tan, laundry" in Italian?

The cast of "Jersey Shore" is heading to Italy for season 4 of MTV's hit show, the network announced Tuesday.

"While the stateside "Jersey Shore" locales have become iconic for our audience ... Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us," MTV's Chris Linn said in a statement. "The cast is headed to the birthplace of the culture they love and live by. We can't wait to see what erupts as a result."

Amid their inevitable shenanigans, the gang -- which in season 3 includes Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Paul "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio, Jenni "JWOWW" Farley, Vinnie Guadagnino, Ronnie Magro, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola -- will leave "the boardwalk behind for the piazzas," "trade gorillas for Italian stallions" and, according to the statement, drop in on Vinny's Italian relatives for a famous Guadagnino family dinner.

"Ohh I Love Italy This Time A Yeahhh," Pauly D Tweeted Tuesday.

Adds Snooki: "Just heard the most amazing news!"

With a whole new country before them where they can create embarrassing moments, one thing we'd love to see is how The Situation's abs stack up compared to the classic competition of Michelangelo's statue of David, on display in Florence.

The next season is set to begin production in the spring in Europe and will air later this year, MTV says.

This series is so lame compared with Series one. Back then there was at least one fight every episode and the majority of the housemates willing to bitch the others out from time to time. Everyone (with the exception of Deanna and Snooks) is so careful now. The Situation and Pauly D just seem to be there to provide surprised reaction shots and occasionally stir up a little bit of trouble for the others. It reminds of that "UP" series of movies where everyone eventually got to the point where they wouldn't open up for the filmmakers.

But the main problem is that the faux-reality of the free-wheeling-guido-crew-on-holiday concept is now quite ridiculous. Obviously they are going to cause a sensation anywhere they go and you do see glimpses of that eg. when Snooki got wasted on the beach there was about a thousand onlookers which you just glimpsed momentarily. But you can tell that they are not living normal lives anymore. But didn't they miss a great opportunity to make series 3 all about meetings with their publicists, ghost writers, book launches, photoshoots for their vitamin products, travelling to LA to appear on chat-shows and generally show their real lives, rather than pretending that they are re-creating the party-hard guido vibe of the original show?

everything, Monday, 28 February 2011 21:41 (fifteen years ago)

I actually think Series Three is my favorite. It may be more obtrusively off-earth than before, but in terms of enjoyable riffs this season has been awesome.

a Snooki/Jwoww BFF show has the potential to be 10x the show JS ever was. No Ronnie and Sammy, no misogynistic creepiness, just debauchery and good times.

Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 7 April 2011 22:02 (fifteen years ago)

Yep. The last series degenerated into a Big Brother-type endurance show with the gals getting continually bullied by the assholes. Vinnie's near-assault on Snooki was particularly obnoxious but from what we saw, Snooki just brushed it off. These women really need some enlightment. But no matter how they edited it, you could see how depressed they all were. Not good viewing imho.

Matt mega-OTM. Season 3 sucked, and it was because of Ronnie & Sammy. They're a horrible couple, mostly horrible people (Ronnie is great when out with MVP). Also learning that Mike is simply a massive dick put a damper on things. Not to mention the even bigger double standard. Jenni & Snooki's show is going to be awesome, and I think Italy is going to rule. I'm not out yet.

dunno if anyone's still watching this, but solo situation is one of the most darkly comic characters in the history of television. when he returns home from the club alone and pacing in the sweatsuit, there is distinct evil lurking under that hoodie. who knows what further damage he's capable of?
