Wasn't going to make this a poll cuz, well, that would be stupid. Among the most discussed-on-ILX picks are Make Way for Tomorrow, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, Airplane! and [i}The Empire Strikes Back[/i].
The best comedy selected is It's a Gift.

McCabe and Mrs. Miller probably the best movie, but obv A Trip Down Market St holds a special place in my heart. Malcolm X seems a weird choice.

I love how schizo these lists have now gotten. It's almost an even split these days between movies that feel like they were just newly discovered in some abandoned theater basement and movies that seem way too new to qualify for "protection."

Need to see Lonesome.
Yay Make Way and Grey Gardens!

yeah i'm surprised by 'malcolm x' but mostly because i thought there had to be a 20-year gap in-between the movie's production and its inclusion in the registry? or did i just make that up

Lonesome >> Sunrise
Can a looooooong overdue Criterion be far off? In the meantime, you can watch it on youtube with some dumb IDM for a soundtrack.

I loved A Trip Down Market Street! Every vehicle was moving at exactly the same speed as the myriad of pedestrians, the autos were swerving around like rats in an obstacle course (without a single traffic light or stop sign anywhere), all the gents wore toppers and all the ladies wore entire fruit baskets on their heads! Madness!

Study of a River! And, yeah, very strange that they didn't already have Trip Down Market Street.

I would also like to see "The Lonesome". It would be nice to be able to see a US cut of Fejos' "Broadway" as well. "The Front Page" sounds interesting, I haven't seen that either.
