Do I count four Stephen King properties!?

Anyway, it's Dead Alive. But Candyman is one of the few horror movies that's actually scared me. Smarter than it should be, too.

I haven't seen a lot of these but is there really anything better than Dead Alive on this list?

Coppola's Dracula is a kinda hilarious disaster

Dead Alive is obvs gonna run away with this, probably followed closely by its cousin Army Of Darkness and/or Candyman. But I'm voting for Alien3, because of my enduring love for the franchise. Fincher was given a turd and did his utmost best to polish it, and came awfully damned close. Sigourney Weaver's performance as she realizes she's doomed but still manages to come to terms with it and make it mean something is some of her best acting. I also liked the (poorly-realized) creature effects showing what happens when the Alien incubates in something besides a human being. Plus I'm a fan of that kind of nihilism -- "All that shooting and suffering and saving you did in the last movie? Sorry. The universe is capricious and doesn't reward you no matter how hard you try."

The "director's" cut of Alien 3 (that is, the cut later assembled to the best of their abilities to resemble the decisions of the director who had since washed his hands of the whole thing) isn't bad at all. Lots of good ideas in this movie.

Yeah, that's the one I generally watch, and it makes a lot more sense, as it includes the capture of the Alien and its later release by the one crazy prisoner.

The hand that rocks the cradle is a Horror film?
I'd have put it as a thriller at best.

Candyman was decent enough, that got my vote.

Candyman Candyman Candyman Candyman… er

dead alive, army of darkness and alien 3 will walk this, with candyman the dark horse, but there are several interesting also-rans. buffy TVS isn't really a horror movie, but it's fun a in goofy, post-80s kinda way. dust devil is a spooky, atmospheric follow up to hardware, trading sci-fi apocalypse for shamanic evildoing. the resurrected is by far my favorite non-stuart-gordon h.p. lovecraft adaptation, written and directed by dan o' bannon, who wrote the first alien screenplay. tetsuo II isn't a patch on its predecessor, but it's definitely worth a look. and the untold story is so fucking rough. great central performance, but such a repellent piece of work.

Candyman for sure, but I was honestly tempted by Army of Darkness too. Had to laugh when I saw Dr. Giggles, my local video store in high school had a huge poster for that hanging in their horror section for well over 5 years. Never did watch that one though, despite my love at the time for cheesy horror flicks, because I was creeped out by the thought of Benny from L.A. Law being a sadistic killer.

It's been a while since I watched Coppola's Dracula, but I liked it a lot at the time. Definitely some hammy acting, but visually I thought it was great. It's actually the only film of his that's held any interest for me since Apolcalypse Now (not that I've seen every one of them since then).

Throwing away my hardcore cred and voting for army of darkness because I can't even count how many times I've watched it.

this has to be the hardest one yet

I vote Candyman. Tony Todd is effing amazing, and Virginia Madsen was hot back then.

also Army of Darkness and Dracula were not horror films.
