I had a huge opening statement about how important this movie ought to be to generation X, and then I realized all the people in it are white.

How about the German Army? Do you think they'd mind us crossing that bridge there Kelly?

point being, there's a lot of bullshit film ILX has abused for the sake of self-exposition and stance-taking crap, this movie deserves at least as much.
fuck you if you haven't watched it, it's on netflix on demand, get a roku or whatever already.

I remember this thread:

1970 War Satires T/S: M*A*S*H* vs. CATCH-22 vs. Kelly's Heroes

Your cousin, Marvin Cobain (C. Grisso/McCain), Saturday, 15 January 2011 06:25 (fourteen years ago)

MASH became a TV show, and was immediately worn numb vis a vis "american experience" cultural studies blah blah - eg THANKS I HAD PARENTS TOO
Catch-22 was based on a novel that more people have read than have seen the film

Why don't you quit yr bitchin' and think about what's at the end of the line?

there is another consideration to be considered regarding the qualities of this film: I strongly doubt that there has ever been another movie, certainly not one set in the WW2 milieu, which has ever given such attention to the astonishing variations of homo sapiens' nose bathed in sweat.

VegemiteGrrrl, Saturday, 15 January 2011 07:12 (fourteen years ago)
