i have an assignment due tomorrow that i haven't started. i need an extension. what bullshit story can i make up to get granted one? (a lie that is easy to pull off, preferably)

BEFORE the assignment is due, tell them that you need more time to work on it so that you can avoid doing a half-assed job. this works (because they - and er we - actually prefer to not get half-assed work.)

ask them if you can have the time IF you take a grade reduction, which you're ok with because you're so interested in actually learning. they may be touched by this and even let you by without a reduction. and if they don't, you still get to learn. (I realize this may not be what you want ha.)

How about the fact that your work is on computer, but it's become infected with a virus and corrupted? That should get you a couple of days extension, while you sort it out.

its only gonna be a day late, but thats a 20% deduction in the music department. maybe i'll try the virus thing, but maybe i should just tell the truth, like that i've really down (despite feeling that somehow thats a copout).

If the real reason why you've not started this assignment is because you have been feeling really low in mood, perhaps it would be the best thing to just be honest about that to your tutor. It's not a cop-out - it takes far more courage to admit that you have been miserable than it does to make up trite fibs about dogs eating homework etc.

I hope you're feeling a bit brighter and more positive today.

Step 1) Make an appointment with your GP tomorrow, explaining that you ahve really bad PMS and need a medical certificate.

Step 2) Go to said lecturer, asking for extension. When asked for explanation, ebign longwinded discussion by saying, It all started when my ass started bleeding last friday.

Step 3) Get your ass into gear and do your assignment during the extension you have now been rgante d by a lecturer who will never look at yuor ass in quite the same way.
