I got this boxset at xmas and it's great. I think Ailsa said on the sitcom poll that she liked it a bit and I wondered what others think?
1st series wasn't quite there yet but it built it up nicely for season 2 which is terrific (i still have to watch season 3 but i dont think it could possibly top the xmas special which had Pete the Jakey from Still Game in it!)
The kids seem quite natural, and it seems the reason for that is they give the general lines to the kids but the kids just say what comes into their heads rather than parroting lines written by adults and the rest of the cast have to adlib to what they say and it just seems more lifelike.
the bit with Ben in the airport I post below in the youtube is a good example of it.

and this bit from series 2 is hilarious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQak6ng0RXQ
(dont read the youtube comments from the christians complaining about blasphemy etc, it will depress you)
And my fave karen clip

I find it occasionally very funny but mostly just ok. I don't find the crazy hairy middle child very convincing but the other two are good.
I like that it makes me feel like an almost capable parent.

Ben is great!! He was really good in Just William too.

My mum likes this, and is amazed at the way the kids improvise.
Amber and Alice enjoy it because it's kids being funny.
Me, I think it's alright shrug.
As for the *wonderful* way kids look at things, hey mine have most of theirs knocked into a hat.
e.g. recently...
TV AD: "and eight out of ten people sampled said it really helped their headaches"Alice: "Yeah, but I want to know what the other two said"

I like it when Karen reinacts reality shows with her stuffed toys.

Yes, but is BBC Comedy Too Middle Class or what?

I was at a filming of The Armstrong and Miller show with that kid in it, and the parents were there. They did look familiar, but I didn't know where from until I googled it later.

Outnumbered is monstrously middle class, but that doesn't make it bad. It's not trying to be "street" or anything.
xps - haha - I did not know that. Being Ben Dover's son cannot have been easy.

It's totally OTM about a number of things about inner city middle-class types as well.
xpost

xp Tiger-whatever-his-name-is - he was on that Wossy '100 Top Toys' countdown show at Christmas and seemed normal enough. He did a Rubik's Cube in 30 seconds.

I already knew who his parents were, but I can't remember what made me look it up.

I've recorded that kid a couple of times but never knew about his parents, crazy!

I think someone saying "you'll never guess who his parents are" made me look it up.
I'm not mad on it or anything, but it mostly brings lolz. It's inoffensively entertaining. I like it when it's on, but can't imagine ever wanting to rewatch any episodes I've seen.
