a) pash is all around great + sensible dude, kind of like asking who elected this nelson mandela assholeb) when ilx was dying a number of code/server/hosting based deaths stet stepped up and organized responsesc) and while me, tombot, and a bunch of other coders dithered around arguing about whether the plant looked better next to the sofa or the window, keith rewrote the entire fucking site from the ground up, for free

^ sorry if that sounds harsh, I love u too steve shasta, but the line of questioning reminds me of when ppl complain about how volunteer performance spaces are run - "why are you being such a fascist jerk, man?" - the guys asking those types of questions never seem to be the ones sweeping up the broken bottles + crushed cans after the show's over at 3am

Haha, no worries, I just had no idea how these guys came into position.
Pash's rep is solid, I have had zero interaction with Keith and Stet and just wondered who or where they came from, maybe they're hardcore lurkers or always cleaning up all the mess to post on threads that I browse. I know they both figured large in a few of the Tombot incidents so I figured they got his back for alltime but other than that I was just ~curious~.
Like I said in the thread title this is why I'm afraid to ask sometimes because dudes come down so hard to school you and you're just like, I just wanna know how it all works on the back end and how it all came to be and you put it all there so I thank you for that E3. <3

Q. If I need a court-appointed board lawyer, how can I make sure it's not Whiney?
― Y Kant Torres Red (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 3 February 2011 17:10 (fourteen years ago)
Sorry, due to our deficit reduction plan we've cut ILX legal aid, Whiney is probably at the more prestigious end of the spectrum.

Q. whats the back up sitch for the ilx server
― ice cr?m, Thursday, 3 February 2011 17:20 (fourteen years ago)
Facebook.
― Mark G, Thursday, 3 February 2011 17:21 (fourteen years ago)
The deficit reduction plan is, I hear, mostly ideological...

― Aimless, Thursday, 3 February 2011 18:05 (fourteen years ago)
Is there a definitive list of ILX moderators? Not including sub-board chairpersons.
― Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 3 February 2011 18:09 (fourteen years ago)
Ed set this place up...http://ilx.lefora.com...I think it's been used a couple of times when ILX has been down for updates.
― Les centimètres énigmatiques (snoball), Thursday, 3 February 2011 18:12 (fourteen years ago)
also pretty sure DB backups were one of the things set up in '07 w/ new servers iirc but not sure what current sitch is

was thinking about this and part of the problem is a lot of discussion went on during sandbox era while the main site was tanking, so there's a black hole if anyone tries researching.
andrew was the steward for a while and he'd had enough, the folks who stepped into the breach are mostly still around. I don't see keith much but he still pops in now and then.
my grasp on the internals is kind of old tho, for all I know cankles is secretly our current overlord.

Not including sub-board chairpersons.
We're just as important, in a "loyal mayor that got elected on a crazy platform like no roundabouts near nursing homes" way.
― Favourite Song, Album and Band? Icehouse. (King Boy Pato), Thursday, 3 February 2011 20:20 (fourteen years ago)
God, I wish we had more roundabouts here, especially near the nursing homes.
― Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 3 February 2011 20:25 (fourteen years ago)
Hi, everyone! I know everything about ILX and the internet. Ask me anything!
I know all.
