Male Pattern Baldness, a Beard and a Waistcoat

This might be just a Britishes thing. Really, this has to just be a Britishes thing. But it is kind of baffling. The only people you see wearing waistcoats in 2011 are

a) Wedding guests
b) Snooker players
c) Bald guys with beards

Now I can work out the social reasoning behind a and b, but what the hell is going on with c? Male pattern baldness is not something one has a choice over, and I can see why you might wanna balance it out with a little facial hair. But why the waistcoats? Why? I swear this is a thing.

The waistcoat is the bit that is v. random to me. What is it about that garment that attracts these guys? And not just yr 70s Prog/Blues guys, young men - well, early 30s men maybe - today still pay homage to this timeless look.

Also I realise that altho I thought I hated this look and all who sail in her, I have to give a pass to Messrs Anderson and Fleetwood.

It's a look synonymous with the guys that used to hang around the student union playing Dungeons and Dragons, rocking the waistcoast look over their Joe Satriani t-shirts. Most of these guys were balding, yes.

is this not just a beard-and-waistcoat thing, i feel that maybe the baldness is just happenstance.

I'm sort of upset that men don't like or wear suits anymore period. Business suits are becoming rare and have become extremely exotic/erotic to many women, me included. Sort of like how some men really love evening dresses, garter belts and corsets on women as fetish wear because in everyday life that clothing is a rarity now.

Has No Shame (MintIce), Tuesday, 8 February 2011 15:16 (fifteen years ago)

business suits = hott
"dandy" type suits = gross and try-hard

as a freelancer who spends most of my days slobbing around in whatever the nearest items of clothing are, i love occasions when i can legit wear a suit. all men should be able to rock a suit well.

Suits are great, no argument. The lone waistcoat is a horror tho.
