I can still read Middle English but always kicked myself for not learning Old English. Original Beowulf looks so much cooler in OE

I have a soft spot for written Vietnamese due to like the NINE tones and all the diacritics everywhere:

The letter r was avoided in Schleyer's original Volapük, on the principle that it would be difficult for Chinese speakers to pronounce, and in the adoption of foreign roots r was generally changed to l. For example, English rose becomes lol.

This hilarious (to me) snippet suggests what must once have been a bitter animosity between constructed language partisans:

Also in Esperanto, a rival constructed language, the expression Tio estas volapukaĵo por mi (That is a Volapük-thing for me) is sometimes used like the English "it's Greek to me" (that is, "I can't understand this" or "this is nonsense"). Volapukaĵo is also a slang Esperanto term for "Nonsense".

By latin I think you mean Roman letters but also note the Arabic numerals... could easy say 5 character sets if you wanted to.

Vietnamese could be considered a dialect of Cantonese/Hakka, and until the French invaded, their language was entirely Chinese hanzi (ideographs), unlike these days which is an odd Romanized script courtesy of the French conquest.

The example of "Vietnamese" above is simply Chinese fwiw. NB: I don't understand it. ^___^

Il-Malti huwa l-ilsien nazzjonali tar-Repubblika ta' Malta. Huwa l-ilsien uffiċjali flimkien mal-Ingliż; kif ukoll wieħed mill-lingwi uffiċjali tal-Unjoni Ewropea. Din il-lingwa għandha bażi u għerq semitika, meħud minn djalett Għarbi tal-Afrika ta' Fuq, u għalhekk qatt ma kellu l-ebda relazzjoni mal-Għarbi Klassiku. Imma tul iż-żminijiet, permezz ta' proċess ta' latinizzazjoni ta' Malta, bdew jidħlu ħafna elementi mill-Isqalli, djalett ta' art li wkoll għaddiet minn perijodu ta' dominju Għarbi.

The Khitan scripts were the writing systems for the now-extinct Khitan language, used in the 10th-12th century by the Khitan people. who had created the Liao Empire in north-eastern China. There were two scripts, known as the large script and the small script. These were functionally independent and appear to have been used simultaneously. The Khitan scripts continued to be in use to some extent by the Jurchens for several decades after the fall of the Liao Dynasty, until the Jurchens fully switched to a script of their own.

Many scholars recognize that the Khitan scripts have not been fully deciphered, and that more research and discoveries would be necessary for a proficient understanding of them. The Khitan scripts are part of the Chinese family of scripts.
