Another classic N. moral dilemma.

Graham, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No.

jel --, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's an interweb pervert! Call the Daily Mirror!

Ans.: No. Unless it was my daughter I suppose.

Tom, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I remember being about 10 and one of my best friends said "I lovebite my mum". touching gesture of youth or sick incestual fetish.

Ronan, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

incestuous even.

Ronan, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you some kind of incestualist? etc

Archel, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Can I just make it clear that this is not a moral dilemma at all. I would not. Unless, as Tom says, she was my daughter and there were some marks on her neck that needed explaining.

N., Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But she's adopted so that would make it OK right?

Graham, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Only if you've adopted her.

N., Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I love threads that go/begin horribly, horribly wrong without my intervention. It takes a lot of the pressure off.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The problem with seven year old girls is that they so often ASK about these things. Although I would almost certainly skate over teabagging (I don't even want to think about what jokes are concealed in that last phrase...) I think I would probably discuss lovebites if asked. My friend dismissed her sanitary towels as 'special tissues' when asked by the Seven Year Old - I like to think I would be less patronising, especially now puberty arrives earlier and all...

Archel, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes but you're female so that's all right [unless the girl is lesbian]

N., Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You were saying, Dan?

Archel, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan is like the secret presence that is invoked by action rather than by ritual.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If you look in a mirror and say my name five times, a rude joke will pop into your head and you will giggle.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What if I have no mirror or other reflective surface?

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

He'll come around your house and install some on the ceiling above your bed.

Ronan, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

While wearing a thong.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ew.

Colin Meeder, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This situation disturbs my soul.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(The moral of the story is: BUY A MIRROR. Heh.)

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd tell her to listen to "Rocket" instead.

sundar subramanian, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Easy-You got a mosquito bite. You kept scratching it and its become infected.

brg30, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nobody likes the Buzzcocks anymore I guess.

Sean, Tuesday, 13 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The urgent and key distinction is between "Psst, little girl - fancy a lovebite" (not acceptable) and answering questions, which I believe in attempting to do honestly, though without going into adult details as far as possible.

Martin Skidmore, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ans = i got it at the Ball of Contusion!!

mark s, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nobody likes the Buzzcocks anymore I guess.

What yer talking about. Luv 'em.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

one month passes...
yes

ben grace, Monday, 30 September 2002 12:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Depending on who it was, I would answer them accordingly. If it was my child, or the child of liberal friends I would give them a decent and truthful explanation, otherwise I'd avoid the question.
