People in the street who come up to you and try to give you self-written self-published philosphy books, C/D?

Had a guy come up to be today who said "Excuse me... You look like a philosopher..." and I was just "uh no" and kept walking.

I usually get batshit conspiracy theory pamflets instead.

I once saw a Jeff Goldblum movie where his character's son and friends get involved with some mysterious self publishing philosophy writer, and the writer turns out to be a serial killer.

xp I must have seen some special Director's Cut edition, because I don't remember the scenes with Goldblum sitting around watching pr0n all day being in the theatrical version of JP.

Classic. I get sent these by post frequently b/c I am a philosopher. Lately I have been getting them by email, which is less fun b/c the postal envelopes often come with additional lunacy scribbled all over. I've been thinking of posting one of the emails I got last week from one of these characters but I don't want to give it any additional publicity or lead this guy to track me down; suffice it to say that he's quite concerned by the US 90s soap opera Falcon Crest, among many other things.

actually Falcon Crest was cancelled in 1990---so make that an 80s soap opera. That's 21 years since it was cancelled; surely this guy can think of better examples for the downfall of American morality than that.

xp to be fair I was sitting in a barrel at the time...
