So what was it and how many times? RHPS or things of that ilk don't really count. I'm thinking regular old movies you liked so much that you paid repeatedly to see them on the big screen.

ive seen a lot of movies in the theater twice, trying to recall seeing one three times

I don't do this, but I did see "About a Boy" twice in the theater in one weekend - my wife and I wanted to see it, then we were visiting her family and they wanted to go to a movie and it was the only one people could agree on.

I think I saw Finding Forrester four times but that was more because I went with diff people who wanted to see if rather me thinking it was incredibly awesome enough to see that many times.

Star Wars (assuming we can count the original release and the special edition rereleases)

There should be.

Gold (RogMoore), the only film I ever walked out of.

Sideways is the one I walked out of most recently. As a kid my parents made me leave Teen Wolf because it was too racy. lol.

I picked up a DVD of sideways at a fete, never watched it.

Why is it walkoutable?

I just thought it was annoying and boring. Tons of people loved it though so don't take my word on it.

i saw Pulp Fiction in the theater 3 times the year of release. only other multiple theater viewings i can recall were The Phantom Menace (knew it was shit the first time, then i think saw it again w/ family and saw it later when the company i worked for took everyone to see it as a 'treat'), and i weirdly liked The Village enough that one day i went to a matinee and saw it again.

I've seen Jaws, Annie Hall and Local Hero x 3. The second time I saw Jaws the copy was so bad it skipped the bit where Quint runs his nails down the blackboard and went right to everyone turned around and looking at him, seemingly for no reason. I would watch Local Hero again if anyone ever showed it.

I don't think I've seen a film in the theater more than 3 times, but that applies to Wall-E and There's Something About Mary. In both cases, it was because I'd seen them once by myself and then ended up going back with different groups of people.

Oh, forgot Anchorman - which I saw for a third time for free at a new cinema because they were testing the screen and so got free food and drink as well. An excellent way to spend an afternoon.

Star Wars, 3x in 1977. I've seen a handful of others 2x, but I can't think of any of them offhand.

If RHPS-ilk includes all cult films (I saw Eraserhead, Basket Case, 200 Motels, Clockwork Orange etc. numerous times at my local repertory cinema in the years pre-VHS) then I think I have only done this twice: Memento (for the convoluted plot) and The Man Who Wasn't There (for the cinematography.)

i was 10 and it was the first time i saw woody allen; i was one of those kids to whom he meant a lot in adolescence.

i haven't seen it basically since then, but i'd still recommend it, i think; the bad guys are played by gene hackman and christopher walken.

I worked in a multiplex and saw a bunch of things multiple times. Must have seen Pulp Fiction the most, cos that had the longest run of all the movies that were showing there. Probably saw it 30+ times?

Natural Born Killers, probably went to see it five or six times. most of those times was after pub drinking and why oh why we did this i cannot remember. i barely even care for the film nowadays.

Walked out of Indecent Proposal, was on a date and it was her idea to watch it.
I drove her straight home afterwards and that was that.

oddly enough, I believe my answer has to be Look Who's Talking - the first one, from 1989. This was the fall of my 7th-grade year & LWT was playing for what seemed like months at the theatre at my local mall (the mall being the de-facto meeting ground for 7th grade dating). There were only two screens & the other invariably had some R-rated drama or something, so sitting though LWT was the ONLY option if one wanted a setting in which to try to put the moves on girls. I think I saw it four or five times.

A.I. twice. I think that's it.

Up - twice in America on its May release date, and then once in October with my famly in the UK.

That's the only x3 I can recall..

I imagine I would've seen Pulp Fiction at least 3x had I not been 4 when it came out..

I saw Passion Fish six times in the theater, because I was involved in my university's movie-showing program & was taking too many stimulants at that point to resist.

This may be why I'm not excited about watching movies anymore.

For my demographic (40yo) I'm a total cliche:

Star Wars 4x (2x original run, 1x early 90s rerelease, 1x special edition)
Big Lebowski 3x (all within a couple years of orig release)

Now that I think about it, most of the movies I'd call absolute favorites are movies I've NEVER seen in a theater...

The first X-Men, think I saw it 5 times at the cinema.
Then bought the dvd and have probably only watched that twice, once with commentary.

Not sure. Over the years I must've seen 2001 at least 6x in a theater, cuz there's really no other way.

Keeping in mind that a) I am a big Star Wars freak, and b) I was stationed overseas from 1977-79 so missed out on all the initial furor the first time around, I saw Phantom Menace more than 10 times in the theater.

"Raiders of the Lost Ark." Must have seen it three times when it was originally released, then every once and a while since then.

I should have seen "Thin Red Line" 7 times. I know that "Lawrence of Arabia" is another one I see every time there's a nice new print or screening. I really wish revival houses existed everywhere.

I saw it definitely three times, maybe four, in first release, with different people, and because I knew I would never be able to stand it on TV in pan-and-scan. This was also helped by it staying so looooong in cinemas – nothing ever lasts beyond two months these days, and ALL of Sydney’s dedicated or primarily- rep houses got squeezed out by multiplexes or other economics by the end of the 90s. (A couple of multi-screens do occasional revivals and theme seasons still.)

Have also seen my favourite film ever, Russ Meyer’s Supervixens, two or three times as a teenager and once last year, in an incredibly poorly-kept print, with almost the entire picture washed-out to orange. Meyer’s Faster Pussycat I’ve seen projected more often, but once in a pub, not a legit cinema, and once on a screen behind Recloose DJing.

Clueless twice, Top Gun twice

Used to love going back to the cinema to watch a movie I liked over and over.

Saw Pulp Fiction 7 times over nearly a year, including 3 times in the first 10 days of its run. Always went with different people, after the first time never particularly planned to go, but would go with people who hadn't seen it yet. The epi shot to Uma's heart was usually the highlight -- got a round of applause from the first few audiences I saw it with.

Had multiple viewings of lots of indie/artsy/revival movies that came through our Cinematheque on one week runs. Saw City of Lost Children 3 times in a week that way.

I remember seeing Independence Day 3 or 4 times, and Jurassic Park 3 or 4 times. I've seen a bunch twice.

As far as worst movies. I had a good friend who was a movie theater manager back in college, so I had free tickets for anything I wanted to see. So basically I saw a bunch of crap I would never pay for. I remember "Play It to the Bone" and "Dracula 2000" being two movies I just couldn't watch all the way through. There were others, I'm sure.

Reservoir Dogs 3 times. This was mainly because you couldn't get a copy on VHS for at least 2 *years* after it's release in those wacky early 90s years in the UK. Seems insane looking back now.

2001 over 10 times.
Blade Runner in it's various cuts at least 8 times.

Just learned that Mr Veg saw Silence Of The Lambs 8 times in a week when it came out

the first one was Flight of the Navigator, when I was 9 or 10. Even then I had a critical eye for quality cinema.

Then: Pulp Fiction, all three LOTR films, either 2001 OR Lawrence of Arabia (5 times between those 2, cant remember which), and somehow Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Walked out of The Expendables, first time i've done that in years. Way to screw up a depressing Old Guy reunion on virtually every level.

Little known fact: the original Star Wars was seen theatrically by only 37 preteens who viewed it 900 million times among themselves.

Now that I think about it, I probably saw Pulp Fiction at the Hoka 2 or 3 times plus once at the mall cinema. Forgot about it because awesome as it was, the Hoka barely qualified as a cinema.

For me it was Never Cry Wolf.

Ooh, I almost forgot to mention my friend Sean was taken to see Ghostbusters 2 at least 20 times in the summer of '89 by various family members.

Quite understandably he haaaated that movie

probably blue velvet, which I saw a few times (maybe 3) at a rep theater (remember those?) in college and when I didn't have a VCR.

But thats cos its an arthouse replay fav and it's a thing fr my group of friends to go to a showing for fun. Also once, REG did a talk before a screening.

If I knew of a cinema that showed the Princess Bride I would go and see the Princess Bride in the cinema. If they did it again the following year I'd go again.

The only films I can recall seeing more than once are the first two LOTRs and Kindergarten Cop due to two friends watching it for their birthdays a weekend apart.
