america mini roadtrip

i'm thinking of doing a 17-18 day trip round NE america. it would be by either greyhound or train. i only got the idea yesterday but it sounds really appealing. but where should i go?

my intial ideas are:

trip#1
Chicago
Cleveland or Detroit
Buffalo
Portland, ME
Boston
Providence, RI
NYC

or :trip#2

Chicago
Cleveland
Pittsburgh
NYC
Philadelphia
Baltimore
Washington

or: trip#3
Portland, ME
Boston
Providence, RI
NYC
Philadelphia
Baltimore
Washington

coming from england, where all the cities are right next to each other, i'm not sure how the distances will work out. is this manageable? i want to see the places too. and maybe meet some ilxers. i don't want to overreach myself like my sister did with a nyc-chicago-denver-seattle-denver-salt lake city-phoenix-alberquerque-el paso-dallas-houston-new orleans-miami marathon!

so, what do you think? or do you have any better suggestions or tips?

gareth, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

or, perhaps one of the above trips but the other way around?

gareth, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

You can't miss out Chicago! I'd say do NYC, Boston and Chicago and miss out some of the ones in between.

Dr. C, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, i'm looking at something like

portland 2 nights
greyhound to boston. 3 nights
greyhound to providence. 2 nights
greyhound (or maybe amtrak) to nyc. 3 nights
greyhound to philadelphia. 1 night
greyhound to baltimore. 1 night
greyhound to washington. 2 nights
fly to pittsburgh. 2 nights
fly to chicago. 2 nights

i may jettison baltimore and washington

gareth, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

neither washington nor moscow!!

mark s, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Looked at purely in terms of logistics and functional public transportation, trip number three is the one least likely to end in heartache (heartache defined as a trip in which you are constantly going somewhere, and too exhausted to enjoy where you're at).

Colin Meeder, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm looking at boston-portland-boston-providence-nyc-pittsburgh- chicago. i think this looks like the most manageable, with only the pittsburgh-chicago greyhound looking arduous (1.30am changeover at cleveland)

gareth, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I've done that one, and it's a bastard -- frankly, NYC- Pittsburgh isn't much fun either, and although I think Pittsburgh's generally worth a visit, it just isn't easy to get to by plane, train, or automobile.

Colin Meeder, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

come to edmonton

anthony, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Hit boston Gareth,I'm sure there are a lot of us who would love to meet you. When do you plan on taking this trip?

Chris, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

you should hit up Philly, too - you can take the NJ Transit line from Penn Station in NYC to Trenton, NJ, and then the SEPTA train right into downtown Philly. total cost about $17.50 USD.

Dave M., Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

*sniff* The West Coast abandoned again, I see (even if for practical reasons). *bawls* But, young Gareth -- if you make this trip in October when Terrastock is on in Boston, then a bunch of us will be there. :-)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

1. when is terrastock?

2. i'd planned sep20-oct6, but this isn't set in stone

3. i'm going to try and fit Philly/Baltimore in somewhere for a day. i went to Philly last october and liked it, so... 4. ned, if this works out, i'm planning a west coast one in march (LA, SF, Portland OR, then maybe an Austin/Houston bit or something, don't know yet)

gareth, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, Gareth, postpone your trip by about a week and it'll work out well! Here's the details about Terrastock -- Alex in SF, Mike Daddino and myself are going, possibly others from the boards here. Even if you don't want to go to the shows or anything, just hang around with us at get-togethers or whatever. And the West Coast in March = worthy! :-)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm, i would like to see bardo pond again, but it would need some major rejigging (i'm starting off in boston and ending in chicago). i haven't worked anything out yet, and a lot is going to depend on my finances...

gareth, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I've already mentioned (a few weeks back) that I'm planning on being in Boston by the 9th Oct too. spending some time there and then driving around. Terrastock not something I'd be into, but the meeting up with people around then is a MUST.

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Obviously Graham I'd suggest coming to Chicago, as if you don't come through Chicago then your trip will mean nothing to me and I'll care not a whit whether you enjoy yourself or not.

That's a joke. Err yeah, the whole thing would be logistically a lot simpler if you didn't want to venture into the Midwest. But Chicago's reasonably lovely, so I encourage you to visit.

nabisco, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha, as I typed that you seemed to get a lot more certain about Chicago. Standing offer of transportation / place to stay / things to do as you need!

nabisco, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

That's right, Alan will be there too. FAP Boston! And then some.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw. Nabisco is offering Chicago concubines. How sweet.

I would advise strongly against cutting Washington out of your trip. It's just a cool city to roam around in, what with the whole mall area and Georgetown and U Street and all the other neighborhoods I'm forgetting.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i have a question. have you ever been on very long greyhound trips before?

bc, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

And sorry for calling you Graham!

nabisco, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Not that there's anything wrong with being Graham, obviously.

nabisco, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess it would have been funnier to have said "Oh wait that's Gareth, oh nevermind then, stay the hell away from me."

nabisco, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought you'd stumbled on my secret plan to come and slay you, "Mr" "McMaster" and were trying to lure me into a trap where you would slay me first.

Graham, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

do you have family in buffalo or something?

Josh, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i would suggest taking a train over the greyhound bus - those buses can get kinda freaky. and between boston and NYC you can take the fung wah express bus from chinatown, which is only ten bucks!

geeta, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Trip #3 looks most sensible, but then I am an eastern seaboard girl myself. If you must go to Chicago (bc you have friends there, you have an undying curiosity) then definitely hit Detroit and not Cleveland (unless of course you have friends in Cleveland which would make it fun and interesting). I'm not familiar with your musical taste, but Detroit has a little something to satisfy everyone (for me it was walking in the shadow of Motown, for you maybe the current electronic scene... and its a large, active city... Cleveland, on the other hand, just has the Rock and Roll Museum or some such, and its kinda small... of course any Cleveland posters feel free to prove me wrong... As for Buffalo, I can't see what you'd get out of it (and my family is from there, so I can say that) but of course if you know people there, then it makes all the difference... And Portland, MA???

Moving on to trip #2 Pittsburgh is quite lovely and you can enjoy the Warhol museum, but I'm not sure its worth going especially out of your way for... Baltimore is pretty good and DC is ok (where I'm from, just about), and all very convenient if you're doing the Boston--DC route...

As for Trip #3, again, Portland, MA?? Providence is good though. So I might recommend a route like Boston--DC with room for maybe one trip further afield (Chicago-Detroit) or Pittsburgh... Amtrak serves the Boston--DC corridor very well and could be a fun way for you to travel. By bus not so fun but cheaper...

Could be fun to do New Orleans or Memphis...

Let us know what you decide...

Mary, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

#3 looks the best to me too. i think going to maine is key

Ron, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

1. the greyhounds. i've done 6 hour journeys before on national express but nothing longer. the long journey in this trip would be pittsburgh-chicago (11 hours, which i was going to do through the night) - theres 2 other long trips, one of 7 and one of 5

2. greyhound freakiness. yes, i wasn't really aware of this. my sister reckons it shouldn't be too bad on the east coast, but she was in montana and there was someone sat behind her with a knife who was chanting. i don't think i would like that very much.

3. the places. everyone is telling me conflicting things! you must go there! no, don't go there!

4. boston. a definite

5. portland. my sister says its rubbish, it is very small isn't it? but then, easy reach from boston, and might be nice to see maine.

6. providence. apparently this isn't too great either, but its on the way down to nyc, and it looks fairly good.

7. nyc. obviously

8. philly. was there last year, but not for long enough

basically, the final bit would be either:

a) pittsburgh-chicago, or

b) baltimore-washington.

gareth, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

so far:

cheap hostels/hotels info needed. and travel recommendations between these places required!

gareth, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Since Pittsburgh will be a hellride, you've got to do Washington- Baltimore, 'cause that's the opposite of a hellride.

Colin Meeder, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd drop a few places (I've been to Baltimore, and it wasn't interesting - and I have never felt tempted by Pittsburgh or Cleveland) in favour of extra time to look at office blocks and skyscrapers in Chicago and spending extra time in New York, personally. I might settle for just those two, with perhaps a nice long train trip between them.

Martin Skidmore, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

hey... i'd cut out baltimore [yawn], pittsburgh [zzzZZzzzZ], cleveland [what the fuck is that smell???], and detroit [unless you have friends there to show you around] and leave more time for nyc, chicago, dc, boston, etc...

phil-two, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Baltimore is decidedly NOT yawn, but does not give up its secrets easily. Only skippable without hip local guidance.

Colin Meeder, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Agreed with Colin re: Baltimore. Also, the thing about Providence is that there are only about 14 blocks of interest in the main city, but they're spread out all over downtown/midtown and you need a car to get between them. The river's nice, though.

Dan Perry, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

downtown Providence looks like a movie-set of GOTHAM!! Fantastic Italian section (Federal Hill), a couple of good universities so many bands and art etc. and if you get there on the right days you can check out one of the weirdest civic events on the East Coast - Water Fire where they set bonfires in the middle of the canal that snakes thru town and play odd disorienting music.

gareth have u considered any non-city places?

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Baltimore is all that! What other city could have given us John Waters? Nice waterfront, decrepit rowhouses & vegetarian restaurants... Providence sounds charming: sexy RISD students and I hear it's one of the least "revitalized" cities around... For a real yawn, I'd say Chicago... Sorry, Gareth, don't want to turn this thread into *the battle of the American cities...*

Mary, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck the complicated intinerary. Throw it all over and stay in New York. You know you want to.

Pyth, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha! just staying in NYC is tempting i know, i was there for 12 days last year (regret not ilx meeting up, just didn't get it together!)

tracer: noncity places? i haven't really, do you have any suggestions?

i'm really confused about what i'm doing now, my plans are all in a muddle

gareth, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I think that you may want to consider instead of Portland - a couple of day trips out of Boston to Salem or Provincetown(sp?) or Martha's Vineyard or something.

Also, I think neither Cleveland or Detriot would me much fun if you don't have a friend to show you around, or you don't have a car. Detriot can be very intimidating.

Chicago is worth a visit - and is much to often overlooked by British tourists in favor of E.Coast W.Coast cities. The museums and aquarium are top notch - as is the deep dish pizza. The chance that when I move back to the US, that I move to the Chicago area is fairly high.

marianna, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, Gareth, don't want to turn this thread into *the battle of the American cities...*

no, its good, i like to see them fighting, it'll help me with the final decision

gareth, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

cleveland and detroit are off the agenda definitely, cant fit them in, no way (my sister said detroit was pretty scary, although not as scary as montana!)

gareth, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know what you are into gareth, BUT, I found driving around W. Mass and N Hampshire/Vermont a lot of fun - it might be nice to rent a car for a day and just hit the road. In the autumn, all the leaves change color and you could probably find a hay ride in a pumpkin patch and have apple cider and stuff.

marianna, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

ha, i did that last year! we drove up from new york to albany, then into vermont and new hampshire (stopping at Brattleboro) and down through W Mass. it was october, so saw all that leaf changing business. it was great!

theres some photos i took here

gareth, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

G: at the pub the other day I can't remember if you said you'd done the hampshire/vermont thing before. My plan is to be in Boston for (say) 9th to 12th and then hire a car and do the vermont/hampshire thing and any other bits as seem right. (mustn't miss out on rhode island etc). then back to New York for 19th. if you want in on any of the car riding stuff, then that might be nice (and cheaper!) -- just something to keep in mind, nothing we have to plan exactly, eh?

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

specifically, the new york, vermont and massachussets folders...

ther problem is, i cant drive. i know, i suck, and my sister doesn't live there anymore, so i'm stuck with trains and coaches

gareth, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

(blimey, did u just post that? or did i not see it? weird. either way, i guess you did do all that then -- my turn now)

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

yea, alan, i'm going to have a big think over the weekend, and see exactly what i want to do, and when to do it

gareth, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i have done all the important preparation: viz buying glossy DK eyewitness travel guide. :-)

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 16 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

You're crazy for taking the bus!

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 22 August 2002 02:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, did you consider flying between some of these stops? I took Amtrak from DC to Providence and I will NEVER do it again, $160 round trip cost and massive delays, took 9.5 hours one way. Check out Southwest Airlines, they are super cheap and flights are frequent, you can take a 1 hour and 15 minute flight from Baltimore to Providence or vice versa, and there's commuter rail between Providence and Boston and between Baltimore airport and DC. Plus Southwest does one-way fares, lately they have been $39 one way for this route.

daria gray, Thursday, 22 August 2002 03:09 (twenty-two years ago)

if we are assuming that Gareth is utilizing the third itinerary above, then Southwest, although a great option, would not make any sense, as the Providence to Baltimore trip would skip half of the cities on the list, including NYC. It is a great suggestion, though. Perhaps it would make sense on the journey back (or is that what you meant?)
Has Gareth mentioned which city he is flying in to?

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Thursday, 22 August 2002 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, the current plan is:

4th october: washington dc

baltimore

philadelphia

10th october: boston

providence

16th october: new york

i know, this is slightly convuluted in regard to doing boston and new york the wrong way round, but i've decided to be in boston the terrastock w/e so i can see more people!

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 22 August 2002 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Yay Gareth! :-) We will see you there! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 22 August 2002 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

and me too! ME ME ME.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 22 August 2002 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Indeed, good sir. Fear not, an ILX meet-up thread for Boston will be started shortly.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 22 August 2002 15:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going in mid-November. I'm looking forward to it very much.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 22 August 2002 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

East Coast only, or out to the warmer climes as well?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 22 August 2002 16:21 (twenty-two years ago)

for travel between Washington and Baltimore, use the MARC rail service, which is a Maryland commuter rail line. The price of a ticket between Washington (Union Station - very beautiful place) and Baltimore is only $5.75.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Thursday, 22 August 2002 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

How long will you be in NY for? I'd be happy to show you around some of the old haunts...

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 22 August 2002 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

No Fabulous Ruins or Techno Blvd for Gareth!

Andy K (Andy K), Thursday, 22 August 2002 22:28 (twenty-two years ago)

i booked my flights!

landing washington dc. friday october 4, 2.40pm
departing nyc. sunday october 20, 11.30pm

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 5 September 2002 07:59 (twenty-two years ago)

freaky, man. oct 3rd 4pm - oct 19th 9pm. let's get that NYC FAP for the 17/18th sorted!

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 5 September 2002 08:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, ha, Alan and gareth, felicity and I are working on some plans (for the international FAP)!

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 5 September 2002 12:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I've reached a new low of jealousy: I'm jealous of Gareth's see the US from a UK perspective road trip.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 5 September 2002 20:26 (twenty-two years ago)

You guys need to sort out a Boston FAP, as well- the thread for it has disappeared, and I'm too tired to hunt it out to post that I'll be in the city that weekend through Monday.

My sister tells me that I'll probably miss a lot of the leaf colors, though. With the drought this summer, they're already just turning brown & falling off.

lyra (lyra), Friday, 6 September 2002 02:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Wahey, my mid-October presence in New York has been requested for other reasons -- I'll try to schedule myself in for the British Invasion.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 6 September 2002 15:27 (twenty-two years ago)

someone said detroit was large and active? haha. windsor is nice though.

keith, Friday, 6 September 2002 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Suburbanites love Windsor - it's very boring and safe.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 6 September 2002 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Seniors take the shuttle bus to play bingo there, that sort of thing.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 6 September 2002 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone lost the Boston FAP thread? That will be rectified.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 6 September 2002 23:37 (twenty-two years ago)

You need to show the people of Boston your panties that badly?

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 6 September 2002 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...
i'm leaving on friday!

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

yeeha! hope to meet you in new york :-)

ron (ron), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Rah! Will see you again next week! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 1 October 2002 18:46 (twenty-two years ago)

three weeks pass...
by the time i get the photos done i think this trip will have cost me £1700

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 22 October 2002 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

B-but how much is that in dollars?! And...was it worth it?!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 22 October 2002 15:28 (twenty-two years ago)

$2500 about...

i did buy some clothes, and was there for 17 days (this includes flights, 17 nights accomodation, travel, food, going out - i went out, like 6 nights)

still, it was more expensive than i thought it would be...

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 22 October 2002 15:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, Gareth is rich! Or was, rather...

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 22 October 2002 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

hahaha 'was'! nice new credit card debt hello! as for rich, hmmm, i remember you telling me how much your rent was!!!

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 22 October 2002 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth--that information was divulged under a sea of drunkeness, we must never refer to it again, nor shall you tell any other posters, in the US or UK the numbers! ILX secrets, yay!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 22 October 2002 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

nine months pass...
this thread may be of use to a certain stevem who might even think of doing something involving some of these cities in the near future

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 27 July 2003 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

like visiting maybe, yeh. New York-Washington-Pittsburgh-Chicago-Niagara Falls-New York was sorta the plan. i could just be all mouth and no trousers tho.

stevem (blueski), Sunday, 27 July 2003 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

four years pass...

I'm going to Sacramento this August for work and I'd like to go a few other places while I'm travelling -- the Bay Area, Las Vegas and New Mexico. That sort of screams "fly west, then rent a car and drive back home" to me. But isn't it really expensive to rent a car in one location and drop it off in another?

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:19 (seventeen years ago)

i think the expense might lie more in the duration of the rental

gabbneb, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:27 (seventeen years ago)

Why don't you drive one route and drive back a different route?

Hello Everyone!, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:29 (seventeen years ago)

If I drive both ways, I won't need to rent a car. But this is a hell of a year to pay for 4000+ miles worth of gasoline.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:31 (seventeen years ago)

It's not really more expensive to drop off the car somewhere else

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:32 (seventeen years ago)

I recently did a LA - Las Vegas loop through AZ and NM and it was fine.

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:33 (seventeen years ago)

i would respectfully submit that you don't want to be in las vegas in august, but the bay area would be v nice and v close to sacramento, so why don't you focus things in that region? if you want to go to nm, maybe make a separate trip out of it?

gabbneb, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:38 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, i think i used budget once for a road trip from san diego to seattle. there really wasn't any extra charges for leaving the car in a different state.

loved that hwy 1 trip all the way up the coast!

carne asada, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:39 (seventeen years ago)

xxp, lol

gabbneb, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:39 (seventeen years ago)

i would respectfully submit that you don't want to be in las vegas in august, but the bay area would be v nice and v close to sacramento, so why don't you focus things in that region? if you want to go to nm, maybe make a separate trip out of it?

This is probably the best move. But I don't get unchained from my desk that often, and I'd like to pack as much into this trip as is feasible.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:45 (seventeen years ago)

i mean, you're used to MS hot, so maybe it would be fine, but see the second to last page here - http://www.cpc.noaa.gov/products/analysis_monitoring/lanina/enso_evolution-status-fcsts-web.pdf (tho the effect may be less pronounced by Aug)

gabbneb, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:49 (seventeen years ago)

why not extend your trip to Colorado instead? That's my favoirte part of that whole area

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:55 (seventeen years ago)

Budget's website: Sorry, but we don't allow rentals between those locations. Please change your entries and try again.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:57 (seventeen years ago)

restrictions now! bastards

carne asada, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 14:59 (seventeen years ago)

one year passes...

Would like to hit the road this fall if the world hasn't fallen apart by then. Northeast? Northwest? Southwest?
