Classic, if only for the fact that when I was a kid I wrote to him asking for a signed photo. The letter actually found its wasy to his house and he wrote me a short letter as well as a personalised signed photo. Like the arse I am I no longer have the letter, think I may have taken it to school to show off and it got stolen. Still got the photo though.

As for his comedy, horribly dated and at least from memory doesn't stand up at all. Still, he was good in the Italian Job. Also, inexplicably popular in the US. What's that all about.

Having Michael Jackson as a fan = dud

Also, inexplicably popular in the US. What's that all about.

His hour long shows were chopped in half and edited to half-hour with commercial efforts, and as such started to surface in early evening syndicated spots in the late seventies and early eighties, when I saw them. I figure I just thought it was an equivalent of The Muppet Show for puberty-ridden goofs like myself. ;-)

Generally I;d say dud - but possibly given the poor standard of comedy, especially back then, he was relatively good.

I watched an episode of Are You being Served Recently. Man did it stink, so unfunny and predictable, next to it slapping a small, bald man is genius.

I believe that in a long-ago thread we decided he had more artistic merit than all the Beat poets put together.

Have a go at phonetically spelling the themesong- nee neee nininin neeeniininee ..funnier than watching a chesty blonde being chased by a myopic swollen sausage man.
