When are you a real writer ?

When there's a direct conduit from my emotions to the paper or screen.

When am I not? But most of the time I'm being very random.

I don't accept the implication in the question - i.e. I think I am a "real writer" whenever I am writing, whether it is this post or an email or a book review or a big article or a short story. There are other qualifiers that I think are more useful, such as 'creative writer' or 'good writer' or 'professional writer' (I am rarely any of these), but I think if you're writing a human language (as opposed to symbols or programming code, say) you are a real writer.
