I don't accept the implication in the question - i.e. I think I am
a "real writer" whenever I am writing, whether it is this post or an
email or a book review or a big article or a short story. There are
other qualifiers that I think are more useful, such as 'creative
writer' or 'good writer' or 'professional writer' (I am rarely any of
these), but I think if you're writing a human language (as opposed to
symbols or programming code, say) you are a real writer.
