question what is the latest release amongst that lot? Atlantic Ocean woz that 1994?, Underworld's Dark & Long woz that 93 or 94?

DJ Martian, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Moloko must be 94...

michael, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

it is quite bizarre. even at a push, i can only accept maybe 12 of these as 'madchester' or 'baggy' or whatever

the 'oldskool hardcore' ones that are doing the rounds are even worse - moby! mike dunn! adamski! future sound of london! what???

gareth, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

They're rewriting history with the people they own/can license.

Ed, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Prefab Sprout - Life Of Surprises ! when woz this ever baggy !!!

DJ Martian, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It's certainly a bag-y-shite.

N., Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Labels aside, I would purchase this comp in a HEARTBEAT if I didn't already own 85% of the songs on it.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

That's because you're an idiot.

N., Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

FITE.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 14 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, just consider the source dang. that said, that comp does sound pretty dire.

in case anyone was wondering i am writing in small caps because i sprained my right wrist last night and it is too hard to shift when i type.

Nicole, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

No comp with the following songs can be considered dire (especially choice tracks in bold):

Happy Mondays - Step On
The Charlatans - The Only One I Know
The La's - There She Goes
The Farm - All Together Now
Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus
Stereo MC's - Connected
Moloko - Fun For Me
Cocteau Twins - Fifty- Fifty Clown
Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds
The Source Feat. Candi Staton - You Got The Love (Original Radio Mix)

Leftfield - Song Of Life
Underworld - Dark And Long (Dark Train)
808 State - Pacific 202
Shamen - Move Any Mountain (Beat Edit)
The Sugarcubes - Hit
Pop Will Eat Itself - Cicciolina
Moby - Go
The Prodigy - No Good (Start The Dance)
SL2 - D.J's Take Control
The Future Sound Of London - Papua New Guinea
Atlantic Ocean - Waterfall

Finitribe - 101 (Sonic Shuffle Edit)
The Farm - Groovy Train
The Charlatans - Then
Cocteau Twins - Iceblink Luck

Dan Perry, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

it just makes no sense to have those songs mashed together on one compilation though.

nicole, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

But back then we all was mashed together Nicole, feel the vibe.

(Underworld Dark and Long (Dark Train) is so so so so so good but I am going to stick my neck out and say TWO MONTHS OFF IS BETTER)

It is. (close to best thing they've ever done perhaps)

Ronan, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't want to feel the vibe if sub sub is involved!

nicole, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

"Two Months Off" is their best single ever, hands down. Yes, even better than "Dirty Epic/Cowgirl", "Pearl's Girl" and "King Of Snake".

Nicole, if you hate random songs jumbled together like that, remind me to never send you a mixtape. Hell, this comp looks like one of my mixtapes (only the part of the second CD from Moby through Atlantic Ocean is too homogenous).

Dan Perry, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Sub Sub rock! At Glasto Doves played a Sub Sub song, the rockers and ravers totally united I'm telling you. Ahem. it was cool though.

Dan some of the Two Months Off remixes are good too, my DJ mate had them at my brother's wedding, though he wouldn't play them at the reception. But yeah it is fantastic, all the better cos I'm seeing them in two weeks.

Ronan, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

mmm remixes i love you... *runs to WinMX*

Dan Perry, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

is 2 months off actually released yet? when? (it is also v hard to buy sub sub reckids i discovered)

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan the Easily Pleased, but who can blame him?

Nicole has a sprained wrist? :-( *sends good thoughts and well wishes* :-)

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

This compilation looks like someone picked random tracks out of my collection, therefore no complaints here. But I don't know how many of these I would call Madchester (maybe eight?)

Vinnie, Thursday, 15 August 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)
