or maybe let's say these were your kids and this was a sophie's choice thing

iatee, Sunday, 13 March 2011 22:20 (fourteen years ago)

did someone say Aaron Rodgers? :D

VegemiteGrrl, Sunday, 13 March 2011 22:23 (fourteen years ago)

Lincecum is super cute, no doubt... but Arodg is operating on a higher plane of cuteness.

that is my criteria

VegemiteGrrl, Sunday, 13 March 2011 22:26 (fourteen years ago)

what is this? the cute guys who crushed philly teams in the post-season last year poll?

Mordy, Sunday, 13 March 2011 22:28 (fourteen years ago)

it's Sunday, there's no sport on tv unless you like basketball, so just shaddup and vote :)

VegemiteGrrl, Sunday, 13 March 2011 22:31 (fourteen years ago)

Aaron Rodgers plays football, and that makes him a winner.

Lincecum should go work at a head shop.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 13 March 2011 22:46 (fourteen years ago)

xp I enjoyed a Phillies spring training game this afternoon!

Mordy, Sunday, 13 March 2011 22:47 (fourteen years ago)

waiting for roxy to arrive here

mookieproof, Sunday, 13 March 2011 22:48 (fourteen years ago)

i am negating her vote. real men don't wear snuggies.

BLOOMPS 2012 (rip van wanko), Sunday, 13 March 2011 23:23 (fourteen years ago)

I don't know who Aaron Rodgers is. But I'll vote for Tim Lincecum over just about anybody.

clemenza, Sunday, 13 March 2011 23:53 (fourteen years ago)

Have you heard of google, clemenza?

VegemiteGrrl, Sunday, 13 March 2011 23:54 (fourteen years ago)

I have--that's a social network, right? (I don't want to not-vote for Lincecum; I don't want to face that possibility.)

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 00:35 (fourteen years ago)

i guess it never occurred to me that there are ppl havent heard of The People's Champion.

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 00:47 (fourteen years ago)

Did you know some people don't care about the NFL? Perish the thought, but it's true.

I choose to not interact with these people.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 March 2011 00:48 (fourteen years ago)

I'm scared, Johnny

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 00:51 (fourteen years ago)

I gave in to peer pressure and used this Goggle thing to learn about Aaron Rodgers. I am a little embarrassed not to have known who he is. (I know who Brett Favre and Tom Brady are.) I don't like his hair, though, so I'm comfortable having already cast my vote for Lincecum.

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:00 (fourteen years ago)

SB

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:06 (fourteen years ago)

I assumed clemenza was joking earlier

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:08 (fourteen years ago)

I guess rodgers needs to do more commercials

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:10 (fourteen years ago)

shocking, just...shocking

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:11 (fourteen years ago)

maybe if ARodg wore a snuggie..?

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:11 (fourteen years ago)

haha ok i fuckin love lincecum and fuckin HATE rodgers

☠ (roxymuzak), Monday, 14 March 2011 01:11 (fourteen years ago)

Absolutely not kidding...I haven't been a football fan since the '70s. My guess is that Favre/Brady are so famous that they're known by even non-fans, in the same way that A-Rod/Ichiro are known by non-baseball fans, but Joey Votto/Felix Hernandez (MVP/Cy Young winners last year) aren't. Don't know where Lincecum sits on that continuum--he's starting to become pretty famous after the World Series.

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:14 (fourteen years ago)

help me I am in a horrible nightmare

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:15 (fourteen years ago)

yeah im not sure comapred to those, hes p p famous tho

☠ (roxymuzak), Monday, 14 March 2011 01:16 (fourteen years ago)

number of non-football fans who know who rodgers is >> number of non-baseball fans who know who ichiro is

might not have been true before the superbowl

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:16 (fourteen years ago)

Every sport has a handful of people whose fame transcends the sport, plus a whole bunch of people who, no matter how talented or how many awards or how many championships, haven't yet cracked that barrier...You're really makin' me feel bad here; I didn't know this would be so traumatic for anyone. (I haven't watched a Super Bowl in three decades. You should also factor in that I'm Canadian.)

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:17 (fourteen years ago)

oh shit I forgot to add "NO CANADIANS" to the poll text

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:18 (fourteen years ago)

this whole thing could have been cleared up

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:19 (fourteen years ago)

(Bows head, slowly walks home--ashamed, ostracized, friendless.)

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:20 (fourteen years ago)

mookieproof, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:20 (fourteen years ago)

Gordie Howe vs. a moose.

bob & doug mckenzie vs tooks

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:22 (fourteen years ago)

i dont even watch baseball/care and I know who lincecum is...but I live 2hrs from san francisco so his fans are hard to avoid :)

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:24 (fourteen years ago)

did u mean toques

mookieproof, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:27 (fourteen years ago)

no I meant those little lord of the rings dudes, mookie dont u know anything (grins)

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:30 (fourteen years ago)

omg why do you hate rodgers, roxy?

horseshoe, Monday, 14 March 2011 01:55 (fourteen years ago)

Voted Timmeh. Watching him pitch the other night, I never noticed his pitching arm before -- he's skinny, but his arm is all ripped, muscled/pythony. Kinda creepy cool.

lowfat dry milquetoast (WmC), Monday, 14 March 2011 02:00 (fourteen years ago)

what is even happening here
iatee what have you done?

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:02 (fourteen years ago)

My new favorite word: pythony.

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:03 (fourteen years ago)

I'd say some really terrible things about baseball here, but I don't want to get sb'ed out of existence.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:03 (fourteen years ago)

There's no need to get all pythony about this.

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:05 (fourteen years ago)

save that for when we really need it, Johnny

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:06 (fourteen years ago)

this was meant to be more ws than football vs basebal

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:11 (fourteen years ago)

maybe baseball fans dont get all ws abt their players. with good reason tee hee

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:13 (fourteen years ago)

lincecum looks like Joseph Gordon Levitt in 3rd Rock From The sun. It is endearing, but I get no ws vibes off that at all.

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:15 (fourteen years ago)

I totally get his hotness. I think he tops my envy chart atm.

BLOOMPS 2012 (rip van wanko), Monday, 14 March 2011 02:30 (fourteen years ago)

omg I just checked the archives and, as far as I can tell, there's never been a baseball vs. (american) football taking sides thread/poll.

I'm scared to think what would happen if one was started, though.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:46 (fourteen years ago)

I did this one favorite of the big four american team sports

but that included the boring sports

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:52 (fourteen years ago)

hockey is hardly boring f u

mookieproof, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:54 (fourteen years ago)

did I not make the no canadians thing clear

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:54 (fourteen years ago)

i am not canadian f u x 2

mookieproof, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:54 (fourteen years ago)

(although i would be proud to be!)

mookieproof, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:55 (fourteen years ago)

anyone who likes hockey is a traitor to america unless we're playing canada in the olympics and we win

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:55 (fourteen years ago)

didn't you see snoop wearing a penguins sweater in the 'gin & juice' video? smdh

mookieproof, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:56 (fourteen years ago)

Snoop is a fan of every team in every sport.

mookieproof, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:57 (fourteen years ago)

I used to get so upset in high school when my friends would say that baseball's boring--I mean really upset. As the years went by, and especially when the Toronto Blue Jays stopped playing games that mattered, I gradually became more like Homer Simpson minus the beer: "You know, baseball really is boring." I'm exaggerating...Most of the time it's kind of boring--at its best, in the late innings of a game where you have a rooting interest, I still think it's the most exciting sport, and there's still the Roger Angell purist part of me who loves watching things like a well pitched game.

I've had my say--back to the Yukon.

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:58 (fourteen years ago)

snoop was merely participating in the 90s ironic t-shirt trend

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:58 (fourteen years ago)

lol

hockey is p cool imo, hockey dudes way hotter than baseball dudes, but would not derail an A-Rodg thread over it

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 02:59 (fourteen years ago)

surely snoop was reaching out to his pittsburgh brethren, culminating in the worldwide phenomenon of wiz khalifa

anyway, hockey is the best screw u xp

mookieproof, Monday, 14 March 2011 03:01 (fourteen years ago)

Baseball is a better basis for romanticized movies about the players/the sport than football is, I think. Baseball movies tend to be great, football movies tend to be lol awful.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 March 2011 03:02 (fourteen years ago)

baseball movies are crippled by the fact that the actors they cast are obviously unable to throw a ball 60 feet

props to costner for at least looking reasonable

mookieproof, Monday, 14 March 2011 03:04 (fourteen years ago)

Barry Pepper as Roger Maris all time FTW

Johnny Fever, Monday, 14 March 2011 03:05 (fourteen years ago)

Here's something really weird: I'm a baseball fan who has no use for virtually any of the baseball films that came out in the '80s and '90s (especially The Natural/Field of Dreams...a couple of them were okay). I'm a non-football fan who thinks North Dallas Forty is one of the best films of the '70s.

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 03:06 (fourteen years ago)

North Dallas Forty RULES. That we can agree on, clemenza (hi-5)

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 03:07 (fourteen years ago)

It's football...aren't we supposed to do some kind of ritualistic end-zone dance?

clemenza, Monday, 14 March 2011 03:08 (fourteen years ago)

we can do championship belts, in honor of Aaron Rodgers

VegemiteGrrl, Monday, 14 March 2011 03:09 (fourteen years ago)

Nothing against Timmy but if you don't vote Rodgers after seeing this there's something wrong with you:

frogbs, Monday, 14 March 2011 13:45 (fourteen years ago)

I am not aware of any good baseball movies.

Fuck bein' hard, Dr Morbz is complicated (Dr Morbius), Monday, 14 March 2011 14:16 (fourteen years ago)

but have you seen the 90s remake of angels in the outfield??

iatee, Monday, 14 March 2011 14:27 (fourteen years ago)

I think you can anticipate my answer. Actaually there was ONE good baseball movie made just a couple of years ago, Sugar!

As far as Lincecum being 'cute' -- man, you cannot prove it from that cover shot on yesterday's Sunday NY Times Style supp.

iatee, Saturday, 19 March 2011 19:47 (fourteen years ago)

VegemiteGrrl, Saturday, 19 March 2011 20:56 (fourteen years ago)

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 15 May 2011 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

You see? My cluelessness about Rodgers was very much in touch with the zeitgeist.

clemenza, Monday, 16 May 2011 02:36 (fourteen years ago)

zeitgeist hell, this was supposed to be a ws thread and it turned into some kind of baseball lovers travesty

wtf wtf

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 16 May 2011 03:22 (fourteen years ago)

loving these result! Timmy has had three amazing years, Aaron has had one with both winning the Big prize for their team at the end.

Bee OK, Tuesday, 17 May 2011 01:01 (fourteen years ago)
