how many nights a week do you 'go out'

this is kinda tough to answer because a) i cover concerts for work but definitely consider that 'going out' and b) i'm kinda transitioning into doing that less often where usually it'd be once a week but now it's less often. i guess i'll say once a week.

does going places w/ sig other count? if so, like 4. if not, like once a month maybe.

"went out" five nights in a row last week, but three of these I went out straight from work, and the fourth I only went home because my house is between work and the theatre, and left before 8, and the fifth was a gig fifteen minutes walk away and I was home by midnight, having been out for five hours during the day already, so: 0

i used to go to pub quiz a lot but then one of the guys i went to pub quiz with dated one of the girls i went to pub quiz with and then had this horrifically messy breakup in which i think but am not sure there may have been an abortion involved, and then everyone stopped going to pub quiz.

i think it counts if you go str8 from work, i mean sometimes you have to work late

It really varies for me, some weeks it can be 2 or 3 (spontano weeknight at bar, then fri/sat out) but a lot of weeks its 0 because I am a lazy, pikey so and so.

Also, a lot of ppl will come over mine for a late one, which I suppose doesnt count even tho the same socialising/drinking applies like I had.

I'm loathe to consider a solo trip to the grocer and/or pharmacy to be "going out", so I only included outgoing activities that include at least one other person. 5 days for me this week - Mon (health club), Wed (taking out friend for b-day party), Fri/Sat/Sun (leaving home for a visit). Staying @home is depressing, I'd rather be anywhere else.

Can't separate "going out" from work. Go to 2/3 gigs a week for work, and after that I have very little desire to go out for any other reason.

I don't go out at all anymore. Lol. Zero gigs. Once I think it was a couple of times a week. Then I married, had children and settled down. hihi

Two, I usually try to get in one gig or club night in, and get another night out for a dinner and trip to the pub. I'm not always successful in this, although in the week after I get paid I can find myself out four or five nights in a row if I'm lucky.

What nights do people go out on? Most of my friends don't work a Mon-Fri 9-5 so the weekend never really means that much to us.

Haha, once a month possibly. It's a bit harder with a toddler to get out.

The last time my wife and I went out together was a year-and-a-half ago. More than that, maybe?

1. Went out Tuesday for pub quiz.
2. Going out Saturday for my brother's girlfriend's birthday.

Might do something with my girlfriend tomorrow night, but we haven't decided on anything yet, which means that we'll probably just stay in.

Although lately I have been going to the gym and to yoga and tai-chi classes some weeknight evenings, so I feel like my evenings are often full, even if I'm not doing fun/social things.

Most of what little "going out" happens is either for meals and finishes in under 3h or starts right after work and finishes by 9pm or so, and neither scenario fits the rules of the thread.

This week, four and Saturday (still part of the week!) will be five, and I'm doing two things on Saturday night so it's almost 6 but whatevs.

Tonight I'm going straight home from work to C-O-L-L-A-P-S-E.

Oh, I guess I wasn't really paying attention to the rules.

I mean, pub quiz wouldn't have counted because I got there at 7:45 PM and it was done by 10:15. But come on, this is clearly going out.

3, probably, on average. Tends to swing wildly between 0-1 ('oh god not another night in i am so bored') and 6-7 ('jesus can i not get a quiet night in just for once').

kinda envious of all the "I get paid to go to awesome gigs and concerts 5 nights a week, don't really want to go out after that."

having a social life built around being a gigging chorister wreaks holy hell on any type of regularly scheduled or impromptu evenings out since usually either you have a rehearsal or your friends do

when I 'go out' on weeknights it pretty much has to be straight out of work at 5:30pm. If I go home, I will eat and sleep.

This week, I am out every single night, but that is *most* unusual (ie. probably hasn't happened for a decade).

depends on what service i'm on. also, new gf means any "going out" time has been lumped into "hanging w/gf" time

probably directly attributable to three things:

1) living somewhere without a car where it's much easier to get to stuff if you have one
2) having less friends here
3) just generally wanting to stay in and cook and watch tv instead of blowing paycheck on booze

do this maybe once or twice a month, which sucks, now that I actually took the time to think about it

need to find some people who can babysit our son more often

we have yet to explore the babysitter solution, we rely on her parents. We did get out a bit a few weeks ago, i think it helped our relationship...minus me getting ass wasted and throwing up.

I just realized that I haven't really gone out in what, in two days, will be 2 months. :(

I will certainly ramify this as of April 2nd, but even still, I feel like this is the longest I've gone without going out since I started going out in the first place.

Also for reference, I am a 22 year old student with loads of disposable income and no serious obligations that would prevent me from going out. In spite of that though, I am very much a 75 year old man at heart.

While it's not exactly zero, it's close enough when you average it out, and infrequent enough that every time I do I barely have time to get over the nervous awkwardness and actually have any fun. Going out tomorrow night for the most low-pressure activity imaginable (a "reading party," in which a bunch of strangers sit around and read and, in my case, drink until they're no longer able to spell "social anxiety," or you know read) and I'm probably still going to fuck it up.

i should go out more during the week

for some reason i think of getting high & hanging out with my roommates & staying up til 4 as 'taking it easy & staying in' but if i've got school the next day i don't even think abt going out or calling some1 up

If I am going out post 8pm it'll def involve drinking/red bull/jenkem so I try my best to avoid anything on weekdays. Getting to sleep when getting home at 3am is an impossibility.

That said, dunno if this is like industry-standard amongst colleges, but of the 2 I've been to the week ends on a Thursday.. meaning I p much have Th. night, Fri night, Sat night for conquests. So I guess 2-3/wk.

my old roommate, who was a p popular dude, went out at least 5x/wk. if it wasn't a concert or rave, somebody just invited him to go ~get high~ w/ them. that said, i didn't really envy him b/c it never seem like he accomplished much every time he came back. wasted $30 on booze and didn't score a bit. i guess regulating everything on the scale of "score: y/n" seems a bit shallow, but i really try to make the absolute most of the few times i actually do go out. quality over quantity? iono.

i wonder if there's some correlation between the results of this thread and the recent 'how old are you' thread -- would imagine the large number of 30ish people compared to 20ish people is similar to how many people go out 1-2 nights a week vs. 4-7 nights a week

i do think the age thing is a factor, thats part of the reason i wanted to poll this on ilx since i know it skews slightly older i guess i just figured for ppl in the 30s/40s w/ jobs/kids/'real lives' that 2 or 3 times a week was the 'norm'

The reading party sucked as expected. Sat alone, reread V. for a couple of hours, didn't buy any drinks because I'm overdrawn til payday, got a water and immediately felt guilty because I wasn't going to be spending any money; noticed that pretty much everyone had stopped reading and coalesced over at one end of the place without bothering to gather the new guy. Took that as my cue to leave, and on my way out knocked over my glass with my headphone cord. But it didn't break! AWESOME

I love going out, but winter curbs my enthusiasm. Now it is spring! So, like 5x wk or something I wld hope, but different kinds of things/shows/people.

I live in ny and even my ny friends aren't go out go out go out but again I am friends with people like me and I don't pretend to know the first thing about ny nightlife

ny is more abt going out than other cities ive lived in but in part i think bcuz everyone's place is so small like here i have plans tomorrow to go over to a friend's place for drinks & boardgames but in nyc wed usually do the same thing but at a bar

i mean there is more to do but theres lots of bars/parties/openings/movies to go to here too, if you wanted

I'm heading for my mid-30s and I love to go out! Rrrrobyn otm! And even going to someone's apt to hang out and watch tv can qualify as "going out" if it takes you 30mins to an hour to get there, and the same to get home. Travel time kills me way more than actual socialization.
