De Montford or Loughborough = I remember when it was all Sports Science round here. We do a very specialized cricket masters round here (International Boundary Studies).

Apparently Bennington offers a doctorate in pottery.

There is at least one school in Pennsylvania that offers a major in event planning.

I work on the student records system at University College London, and today I noticed that we offer 'Hypnotism In Dentistry', which I liked the sound of. Bugger fixing them, just convince the patient that they feel and look great.

Degree in Waste Management at the University of Northampton, anyone? Surely this is the least sexy degree course in the world.

Matt DC, Friday, 17 August 2007 14:31 (seventeen years ago)

Upland and Mountain Management at Central Lancashire could be fun.

Well we (ha! I had a summer job there once!) DO have the lake district very close you know :)

One of my first classes when I went to university was "natural disasters". Taught by a fellow who of course had a doctorate in disasters. Was a fun class actually, everything from landslide mechanics to earthquake triage.

My sister went to bennington; they don't offer a doctorate in anything, let alone pottery. Bennington and Hampshire and schools like that don't really have any notion of major, its just a unique focus of studies for every student and a solid minority of students come up with really wacky BA degrees. I think Hampshire has had at least one degree in frisbee studies.

"Applied Bioscience with Forensic Investigation" (Paisley)

The "CSI" degree :)

onimo, Friday, 17 August 2007 14:51 (seventeen years ago)

apparently if you put the word "forensic" in a course title yr applications go up like 500% or something...

best one we saw last night, going through the graun listings was, i think, Ethics & Spirituality with Choreography & Dance Studies at Winchester.

Bill Cosby was all making fun of the programs offered at colleges: "You can now get a Masters in stopping at red lights."

Abbott, Friday, 17 August 2007 17:33 (seventeen years ago)
