2. Speak up, I'm on my cellular telephone. I don't care, Bob. You're fucking fired. You're fucking fired, Bob! Clean out your locker at the club. I'm talking about one million fucking Deutschmark here, Bob! I told you to wire the money to Geneva last week! I say Geneva, you hear Helsinki, huh Bob? One million fucking Deutschmark, Bob!

The scene with the helicopter drowning out Tom Green's voice is kinda brilliant.
― latebloomer, Thursday, 6 August 2009 07:11 (fifteen years ago)
I think this is one of those movies that no girlfriend would ever like. And is thus classic. I've been laughing for like 30 seconds now just from my memory of the elephant scene.

I think I made through 20 minutes of this? Wherever the point where dude gets a compound fracture and Tom Green starts licking it is where I decided that I had better things to do with my time.

shazam notwithstanding, shaq does a great acting job in his 20-second cameo as julie haggerty's frustrated kept woman. watch for his great "don't touch me, i'm hurt inside" look at the end.

First time I saw this I was really buzzed and it was one of the funniest things I had ever seen. Saw it a second time a few months ago (sober) and I could not find the humor in it at all. I think when I was younger the idea of being purposely and gratuitously gross or offensive seemed funny to me but now it seem like just a gimmick.
― Adam Bruneau, Thursday, 6 August 2009 20:57 (fifteen years ago)
the parts where they half-heartedly work through whatever plot this movie has are bad. it's also about 6 1/2 hours long.
― goole, Thursday, 6 August 2009 21:00 (fifteen years ago)
Nah, I like that the movie has a half-ass "plot," skeletal as it is. It makes the craziness more jarring. It really is an assault on the concept of "entertainment" from all angles.
― latebloomer, Thursday, 6 August 2009 21:15 (fifteen years ago)
yeah you hate to sound lameass but it really is dadaist, as in, occasionally unbelievably brilliant but mostly uncomfortable and irritating
― goole, Thursday, 6 August 2009 21:17 (fifteen years ago)
It has the affect of casting an actually mentally ill person in the idiot man-child role you see in Sandler movies.

This was the moment I said "ok, I'm all in on this movie."
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 6 August 2009 22:02 (fifteen years ago)
There is a "Swedish" edit going around with all the plot contrivances and virtually all non-insane dialogue removed. The readme on it says there's future plans to replace any music cues with badalamenti-sounding collage composed of Tom screaming.

While I enjoy Freddy Got Fingered on its own retarded terms, no way is it dealing with the same issues as Goldthwait's recent films (Sleeping Dogs Lie was genuinely thoughtful and affecting, despite its outre subject matter). I call bullshit on that much, at least.
― SNEEZED GOING DOWN STEPS, PAIN WHEN PUTTING SOCKS ON (Deric W. Haircare), Wednesday, 17 February 2010 22:57 (fifteen years ago)
In its mixture of gross-outs and something approaching moral seriousness, then, Green approaches the second-wind directorial career of Bobcat Goldthwait
Green didn't quite get to the same level of thoughtfulness (or respect, obviously)
― jeff, Wednesday, 17 February 2010 23:15 (fifteen years ago)
The Rip Torn character was based on Green's actual father, and in the ending of the movie Tom makes Rip provide him with the kind of validation I don't think he ever got from his real folks, and in this sense, it is much more unsettling than his wacking off of a horse. (If you're looking for some deep reading of it)
