Are my childhood memories getting tangled, or did this series have basically the same ending as A Wrinkle in Time?

The big mystery of the show involved the location of Sandy's long lost father... Sandy's dad had sent Blinky to her for a very specific reason. He was trapped in a crystal jail in Koala Wala Land in a storyline and conclusion that held so much metaphor and human significance that I'm probably remembering it as much more than it was.

Ha this totally did have the same ending as A Wrnk in Time, thx my brain.

I loved this show! It was pretty dark for a kids show wasn't it?

I remember some episode where the koalas brought Sandy a waffle iron-like thing that could change her appearance if she stuck her head in it, and she came out a sexy blonde. It was like too clear a metaphor for my fear of adolescents, I think.

In 1984, the Tama Zoo in western Tokyo welcomed its first koala, and the government of Australia sent six koalas to Japan as a token of goodwill. As a result, according to The Anime Encyclopedia by Jonathan Clements and Helen McCarthy, Japan went into a koala frenzy and anything to do with koalas became very popular. It was during this "koala-mania" that the Noozles was made, as was another anime, コアラボーイ コッキィ(Koala Boy Kokki), which would later be broadcast alongside Noozles on Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. block in 1988, as Adventures of the Little Koala.

Is this why I think of koalas as '80s animals?

I don't remember "Koala Boy Kokki" at all!

^I remember finding Adventures of Little Koala very irritating.

They were back to back on Nick Jr, in the same block as David the Gnome and Maya the Bee iirc.

I think even then I was annoyed by Li'l Bits but watched it anyway because I was a kid and would watch anything with bright colors and squeaky voices.

Almost all of us were thinking about the Christian Sabbath yesterday. But how about Japanese koalas on Monday?

Publicidad de Sexo (Abbbottt), Monday, 28 March 2011 23:49 (fourteen years ago)

man i remember that waffle iron. didn't she use it to turn into a koala?

A B C, Tuesday, 29 March 2011 00:06 (fourteen years ago)

possibly that was a different episode, or possibly it was actually every episode, i don't remember. but surely sooner or later that girl turned into a koala

A B C, Tuesday, 29 March 2011 00:06 (fourteen years ago)

SHe had this fake koala hat that she would wear iirc? I don't think there would have been so much anxiety abt her getting caught if she clod just koala it up at will.

I found this show and David the Gnome both very depressing.

Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 29 March 2011 01:10 (fourteen years ago)

I have left myself singing the David the Gnome theme song on sooo many people's answering machines. If I called you from 2002-2007 your probably heard it.

A quick search reveals that this is one of at least two threads about The Noozles. It's comforting to know that this isn't a completely fallen world.
